NFL market survey: New stadium will raise $200 million in PSLs

ST. LOUIS • Gov. Jay Nixon’s new stadium task force faces steep market challenges in its fight to keep a National Football League team here — low ticket prices, low ticket sales and a the lack of a “robust regional area” from which to draw new fan and corporate support, according to an NFL study released on Tuesday.
Still, the market survey showed, a new riverfront stadium would draw about $200 million in the sale of Personal Seat Licenses, plenty to meet the task force’s financial plan, which originally called for between $120 million to $130 million from such sales.
Nixon’s task force has multiple hurdles remaining, from nailing down land control to securing state and local bond funding. But the market survey results represent a key victory in the effort to keep an NFL team in St. Louis.
“St. Louis can support an NFL club,” Dave Peacock, the former president of Anheuser-Busch and a task force member, said on Tuesday. “We've had a history of supporting a club, especially when that club is competitive.”
