Anyone remember "The Big News" ?
In 1961, KNXT (CBS2 LA) created one of the nation's first "news-hours." It began with 45 minutes of local news, The Big News, which featured Jerry Dunphy along with legendary weatherman Bill Keene and sportscaster Gil Stratton. It also featured local articles by a guy named Ralph Story.

It aired from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. weeknights, leading into the 15 minute-long version of the CBS Evening News, which completed the news-hour.

Here's something I didn't know.

Lund was often cited a being referenced in the Don Henley song "Dirty Laundry" with the lyrics "we got the bubble headed bleached blonde, comes on at five..." Henley has denied this.
