The $80 million, 380,000-square-foot Ikea St. Louis store in Midtown will open Sept. 30 at 9 a.m.
The company announced the opening date for the 41st Ikea store in the U.S. Tuesday morning. Customers can start lining up 48 hours before the store officially opens.
“We are thrilled by the construction progress made to date, and believe the remaining milestones and interior build-up will be completed by end of September,” said John Achillea, store manager of IKEA St. Louis.“Besides furnishing our store, we are focused on training the 300 coworkers joining the IKEA family.”
The store, located at I-64 and Vandeventer Avenue in the Cortex district, will feature 10,000 items, 50 room settings, three model interiors, a supervised children's play area and a 450-seat restaurant.
Last week, the company revealed that it would set the St. Louis store's minimum wage for $10 per hour, $2.35 higher that Missouri's current minimum wage of $7.65 per hour.
