WOW. These salaries are getting out of hand. I hope the bar didn't just get lowered,,,, or raised depending on how you look at it.

Still, its not really apples to apples, Starting pitchers only play in 30-35 games and are paid more than every day players
The salaries in MLB have exploded over the past 10 years. They used to be much closer to NFL and NBA salaries, despite not having a salary cap

NFL in theory should have the highest salary because they have the shortest career and face much more physical contact and long term rehab

It's true that NFL players take far more risk than MLB. Every play could be there last. Playing almost everyday for 6 months though sure seems like more bang for the buck than the 4 months of half a game once a week NFL'ers, MLB pitchers surely play in fewer games than fielders catchers etc. But the sit safely in the dugout much of the game. Frankly they all make more than perhaps they should,, at least until you compare their take to that of the owners who take on a different kind of risk.
