With Marcus Mariota already in Tennessee, there’s been talk about the Titans trading out of the first overall pick in the draft in a deal with a team looking for their own potential franchise quarterback.

They aren’t the only team at the top of the first round that could be looking to drop further down the order. The Chargers don’t have a young quarterback, but there aren’t any retirement ceremonies scheduled for Philip Rivers at this point so a quarterback-needy team could also target that spot to move up for a player like Carson Wentz or Jared Goff.

Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers are open to trading their highest pick since 2004, when they traded first overall pick Eli Manning to the Giants for Rivers and draft picks. The Chargers also had the top pick in 2001 and traded it to Atlanta. The Falcons took Michael Vick while the Chargers ended up with Drew Brees, LaDainian Tomlinson and other pieces.

Getting that kind of return in a trade would be quite appealing to the Chargers and most other teams, which makes finding a partner willing to make that kind of offer difficult. If Wentz, Goff or someone else dazzle teams in the next couple of months, someone might make such a pitch to the Chargers but more often than not in recent years talk of teams high in the draft being open to trading down amounts to little come draft day.

True but they can get a good one at 15 still and pick up more additions that they need with the extra 2nd and 4th I'd give them from the Rams to move up.

I'm sure the Chargers would like nothing more than to help the LOS ANGELES Rams (Of Inglewood) get their stud QB, and be set up for a decade of success....
Then again, maybe not

True. But if they think they just pulled a RGIII trade on us, they might walk away thinking just how sweet revenge is...

Heh that's the comment I made in another thread or maybe over at ROD. How much does Spanos hate Kroenke and would he step in and tell his GM not to trade with us?

Oh they'll trade with us, but you know the price will be double. Its similar to making trades inside the division. They'll happen on occasion but the pot needs to be awful sweet to *help*

Spanos and Kroenke might have their differences but both guys are trying to improve their teams. If the Rams can offer Spanos something that he believes gives them a better chance to win, they will likely consider it. It just won't be cheap.

Of course they are going to look at how the trade will affect the Rams winning chances. Besides the bitter taste of losing Carson, Spanos was afraid to share the region he believed they were entitled to and were subsequently trying to block the Rams from entering. So I can see reluctance where improving the Rams enters the picture.

Still these are grown men who are likely going to be sharing a stadium, so I would think they will need to interact. And you shouldn't run your team simply worrying about what some other guy does, more what you are going to do with your own. imo

I think JJ will take a QB. Romo is on his backside, (career, field or bench) far to often anymore.

The Cowboys are also in need if a LB, DE, RB and CB though. Soooo, we don't fight them over Jenkins, swap firsts and give them one of our 2016 & 2017 2nds ,, for the 4 spot and Goff or Wentz?

Even if we do that, is Goff with his "small hands" (fair weather city helps) available at 4? What if the Brownies take Wentz at 2 and the Chargers take Goff at 3? That leaves us Lynch, who is good,,, but it's also possible he could make it to 15.
