I'll say this much about "Hacksaw", a couple of guys use Hacksaw as their handle, and they are a couple of my favorite posters.

As for the man himself, I wish I could honestly remember him playing, my knowledge is more from watching video and knowing stats.
Just a flat out beast!

One of the leaders of the team in the '70s and early 80s. One of my favorite players of all time. In the late 70s, the RAMS had a run up a pretty impressive streak of crushing the niners on a yearly basis. Reynolds, in a interview, had said that he and his fellow defensive players could see the niners offense never wanted to take the field against their unit. Their body language and lack of talking made it very clear the niner offense was intimated by the RAMS D.

The teams of the 70s are the yardstick I measure every RAMS team by. Yeah, they never won a Super Bowl and only went to one at the end of the decade, but those teams were beasts. Well-run and knew the importance of pummeling the niners.

Our current group is an embarrassment when measured against those teams. Our current D and STs don't match the 70s teams, but they are, at least, respectable. Our offense, HC and OC are not even in the same zip code as those long ago teams.

Coming from a poster like yourself I take this as a great compliment dieter.
Excellent choice for the first alum Stranger.

Reynolds was an All-SEC and All-American linebacker who went on to become a decade-and-a-half NFL vet with two Super Bowl rings. But what's the deal with his nickname? After the undefeated Vols suffered a crushing loss to Ole Miss, a brokenhearted Reynolds commenced to sawing his Chevy truck (some say it was a Porsche) in half with, yes, a hacksaw. It took two days. "I cut it clean through the driveshaft," he still says, proudly. After sleeping on it, Reynolds grabbed some teammates and took them to see his handiwork, only to find that the vehicle's remains had been hauled away, leaving only the worn-out saw and the 13 broken blades it took to complete the task. Looking back, that was actually fortuitous, because Jack "Half a Pickup" Reynolds doesn't sound nearly as cool as Jack "Hacksaw" Reynolds.

To bad there aren't more videos / commercials of Jack while he was playing for the Rams. The worst part, he left us for the fartwhiners. AAUGH.

Was just a few years before my time. I remember him playing, just not clearly. His effort and name has been synonymous within Rams history!

My first year of really being a fan was '79 so i missed most of his Rams career and can't say i really remember much about his play in '79 and '80. But i am well aware of his legend.

I'm familiar with the work of the two Hacksaws who post here, solid...

Sadly, Hack wasn't the only RAM who went to the niners. Several made the move and that started the niner dynasty. The "Georgia Reign of Terror" had begun.
