After the Release of JL55 - here's my best guess at who the Rams will select with their 1st Round Draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft:
Image
..
Reggie Ragland, ILB, Alabama
Height: 6-1. Weight: 259.
Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
Projected Round (2015): Top-25 Pick.

2/13/16: Sources say that Ragland is not a special athlete, but he's just a really good football player. He has instincts, toughness and brings a real physical presence to the middle of the defense. At the Senior Bowl, Ragland was heavier, but he still moved well with a better than expected performance in pass coverage. His impressive week of practice likely secured him as a top-25 pick.

Ragland was a physical force for Alabama in 2015 and a steady defender from start to finish. For the season, he totaled 102 tackles with 6.5 for a loss, seven pass breakups, 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Ragland has demonstrated versatility as he has rushed off the edge as a defensive end in obvious passing downs while also showing improved coverage skills in pass defense. Ragland performed well against good receiving tight ends from Ole Miss (Evan Engram) and Arkansas (Hunter Henry). He made good open-field tackles and picked up receivers well in zone coverage.

Multiple teams said they felt that when the final draft boards are assembled, Ragland would be deemed worthy of a pick as a first-rounder in the back half. There are a number of teams that have taken a liking to Ragland, and he could end up being a late first-round pick on the back of his consistency.

8/24/15: Many expected teammates Trey DePriest and Denzel Devall to be the players who stepped up and replaced C.J. Mosley in 2014, but it was Ragland who was the Crimson Tide's best interior linebacker. Ragland recorded 95 tackles, 10.5 for a loss, three passes broken up, one interception, one forced fumble and 1.5 sacks on the year. He is a big, physical in-the-box defender.

In 2013, Ragland was a backup and recorded 17 tackles. He led Alabama with 11 tackles on special teams.

No thanks! If we're going defense I'd lay my money on an End or corner if one of Tru or JJ signs elsewhere by draft day. Ragland to me just doesn't jump out at me saying great MLB in the pro's.

at #15 I'd be pretty disappointed.
Like the player but that seems high and I'm hoping WR/QB

Tough call. BAP is the likelihood IMO. I agree with Dieter about WR, signings will shed some light soon.

02/21/16 - My Best Guess - 2nd Round Pick
..
Vernon Hargreaves III*, CB, Florida
Height: 5-11. Weight: 192.
Projected 40 Time: 4.40.
Projected Round (2016): 1.

2/13/16: In 2015, Hargreaves recorded 33 tackles with four passes broken up and four interceptions. The junior plays smaller than his listed measurements. Sources say they love Hargreaves' cover skills, but would like him to play more physically with receivers. Hargreaves is very skilled at running the route and preventing separation. He has quick feet, is a twitchy athlete, and recovers. As a pure cover corner to prevent separation, Hargreaves is tremendous and sources say that, immediately, he's better than the vast majority of cornerbacks in the NFL.

Versus Alabama, Hargreaves had five tackles but was beaten for some big plays downfield on 50-50 passes. Sources have felt that Hargreaves can get bumped around and out-physicaled. That was given further evidence against the Crimson Tide, but they also feel a good defensive backs coach can fix that in the NFL.

Hargreaves had a big interception against Georgia and forced the fumble from Leonard Fournette versus LSU. Against Ole Miss, Hargreaves had a strong game and held Laquon Treadwell in check with six tackles and an interception.

8/17/15: Hargreaves' natural cover skills let him run with wideouts and not allow separation. He has enough size to handle big receivers and the speed to run with deep threats. Hargreaves could end up being the best cornerback prospect to enter the NFL since Patrick Peterson or Joe Haden. Sources with NFL teams said that if Hargreaves were draft eligible, he would have been a top-10 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

In 2014, Hargreaves totaled 50 tackles, three interceptions and 13 passes broken up. He went toe to toe with Amari Cooper and held his own in an impressive performance. Each player had wins against the other with Cooper snatching some 50-50 passes over Hargreaves. While Cooper caught some contested passes, Hargreaves was the really only corner in 2014 who could run with Cooper and prevent separation. Both players showcased their elite skills and proved to be top prospects for the NFL.

The only flaws in Hargreaves' game are that he can get pushed around by bigger receivers on 50-50 passes and he may not have the most deep speed. Sources say they will be watching how does in those areas as a junior.

Hargreaves was Florida's best and most consistent cornerback in 2013. Considering the Gators had established veterans in Marcus Roberson and Louichez Purifoy, it said a lot that Hargreaves was on the field immediately. The true freshman recorded interceptions in his first three college games while totaling 11 pass breakups and 38 tackles for the year. The SEC coaches made him a First-Team All-SEC selection. He was named an All-American by numerous media outlets. Hargreaves' father, Vernon Hargreaves II, is the special teams coordinator and defensive ends coach at South Florida.

Second round pick on Hargreaves? I'd be shocked if he wasn't a top 10 pick.

Weird stuff happens every draft.
Really - Truthfully - No one knows who will get drafted where.
The Tennessee Titans control the Draft (as of today's date). But I think, they'll trade the pick away to a "hungry QB team".
I'll bet you a cup of coffee, and a doughnut, the Cleveland Browns, pick a Quarterback (gosh they suck at picking QB's -- just as bad as the Rams).
Cowboys need a Quarterback to back-up Romo.
Niners need a Quarterback IF (IF), Chip Kelly cuts Kap.
..
I see the Quarterbacks flying OFF the draft board.
But that's just my opinion, as of today's date (before the Combine/and Free Agency starts).
..
I'm just guessing, as to who the Rams Scouting department is looking at - and - GUESSING at who they have ranked on their Big Board.

It's rumored that the Rams like Hargreaves over Ramsey. That's almost akin to saying they like Goff over Wentz or Tunsil over Stanley. Unless there are some serious red flags that we don't know about there isn't any way you can configure this draft that Hargreaves will make it to the Rams second round pick. Sorry Karl. I can't even configure a scenario where he drops to 15.

OldSchool,
..
Like I wrote above....
I'm just Guessing.
..
I used to read on another Rams forum (several actually), and there used to be forum members who posted about who the Rams scouts were looking at.
Since the relocation stuff happened, those two gentleman have stopped posting - or are posting at a forum - I do not know about yet.
..
In 2005, nobody expected Aaron Rodgers to drop to the 25th pick (NOBODY) !!
..
As I wrote - strange things happen.
Certain positions get "hot" - and then there is a RUN on that position.
..
If it's true, the Rams "like" Vernon Hargreaves - they could always move back into the 1st round and snag him.
Assuming they don't take him at 15 (if he's there - and that's who they really want).
