Flashback: Classic images from Cowboys training camps

Seeing as how this is the last week Dallas Cowboys’ training camp in Oxnard, Calif., I thought maybe it would be fun to use our Flashback column today to peruse archive photos of past camps.

Unfortunately, despite the vastness of our in-house archive, I can only go back so far with ease. As you can imagine it’s a long, detail-laden process to convert many decades of film negatives to something digital that can be key-worded and quickly searched. Some of that process has already been done, and that’s where I’ll start. By the way, all images are staff unless otherwise indicated.

Here are several photos from the team’s Thousand Oaks, Calif. location, which was the Cowboys’ summer training grounds for more than two decades:

About a decade later, our archive picks up with some equally neat — and color! — images from training camp down in Austin, on the campus of St. Edwards University …

Great stuff TSFH. Some of those pics are hilarious, like the pull ups and Danny White's shorts.

Maybe i'll shoot the Rams in B/W if they do end up at CSU...

I'm still hoping for Irvine although it's probably better for the players to purchase homes where the TC and rams Park will be located long term.

Yeah,, love the short shorts. lol Remember Kareem in those?
