POST #58 Flash liked this post Landman is a decent and inexpensive FA ILB signing. He gives them experience inside besides Omar. His problems are his physical limitations, i.e. lack of speed and athleticism. That said he showed good development in his second year with the Falcons. His potential seemed to plateau after that, suggesting he had reached his potential.Physically he's reminiscent of Jones but slightly slower and a bit more limited. This is an inexpensive solution at ILB with an experienced player who looks like strictly an early down rotational LB. He's exactly the kind I expected to be signed and allows them to draft a mid round or more likely third day ILB and not have to solely depend upon a rookie at the position during a SB run. With their depth at safety the Rams will probably play a dime on passing downs with one of the safeties (likely Lake) moving down into the box until the rookie can show he can play in a nickel. Quentin has LB size and safety speed so he's a good fit as a rotational in the box SS. IMO this is why they felt spending cap $$ to retain Rozeboom and Hummel who were playing a rotational role was not financially feasible. If they need a ILB to play in coverage then they have Lake to play in the box with Curl and Kinchens behind him. IMO they are going to look at the draft for a long term solution though Landman showed legit potential in 2023 before his injury in 2024. Both Rozeboom and Hummel were played more like in the box SS in the rotations. The Rams also have Jaylen McCollough who can be coached up to play as a rotational LB role as well. He has enough coverage skills to play in the box. At 6' and 200 lbs he's slightly undersized but not so much he can't make the move to rotational ILB.Its why I never thought of ILB higher than the 3rd round even if they had a full complement of draft picks. 4th or 5th round would have been the highest I would have expected. Now I think we are looking at 6th round as the pick for ILb.It's not a blind spot at the position, it's cap expediency. So right now QB if they are going to draft for the position and RT seem to be their highest priorities. If they don't take a QB in the draft (one who could be looked at as a future starter) then they could be planning a trade next year for another vet QB. 1 by Elvis 2 weeks 17 hours ago Total posts: 41048 Joined: Mar 28 2015 Los Angeles Administrator Do Rams have Blind Spot at LB? So... hard to project whether he's worth a shot without knowing his medical situation.I guess it all depends on the physical and the $$ by Dare 1 month 1 week ago Total posts: 696 Joined: Mar 09 2024 Tucson, AZ formerly of San Diego Veteran Do Rams have Blind Spot at LB?
