A year later, how did the Rams signings in the "first wave" of free agency work out?

Kamren Curl (2 years, $9M, $6M guaranteed)
Curl became a mainstay on the Rams' defense, logging the second most defensive snaps (behind Quentin Lake). He made some plays (2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery/TD, 9 passes defended). Solid overall, and reasonably priced. Grade: B.

Jonah Jackson (3 years, $51M, $34M guaranteed)
This one quickly went astray. After four starts, in which his play was mediocre, at best on a patchwork OL, Jackson went down with an injury, lost his starting job to rookie Beaux Limmer, and never made it back to the starting lineup. I suppose he might get a chance to regain a starting spot next year, but right now, I can't give him a passing grade. Grade: F.

Colby Parkinson (3 years, $22.5M, $15.5M guaranteed)
With Tyler Higbee out for most of the year, Parkinson had a real opportunity to step up and make an impact. The results were not very impressive (30 receptions, 294 yards, 1 TD), and Higbee's return really showed the potential of a more effective TE. Have to call this one a significant overpay at this point. Grade: D.

Darious Williams (3 years, $22.5M, $7M guaranteed)
Williams' return to the Rams was underwhelming. He played in 12 regular season games, allowing a 101.7 passer rating when targeted. He also didn't get his hands on the ball with regularity, as he did in his past stint with the Rams and while with the Jaguars. The Rams have a fairly easy out (only $2.3M dead cap) if they want to pull the plug. Grade: C-

So, in the end, while the Rams had an A+ draft, their FA class provided little impact and highly questionable value.

Will this influence how the Rams approach FA this year? Will the Rams be reluctant to spend, or will they just try to shop smarter?

Stay tuned!

I am not looking forward to outside FA acquisition time. Our in-house guys interest me more.

Okay.

So if Stanley hits the market, you'd like to sign him, which presumably means you'd prefer him over Alaric Jackson.

Stanley is considerably older (he'll be 31 at the start of next year, while AJ will be 27), and has, prior to 2024, had a significant amount of time missed due to injuries.

If the $$$ were equal, you'd prefer Stanley? What if Stanley costs more?

Are you only grading based on 2024? If so, I agree. If not then J Jax and Colby P would be an incomplete for me.

I see Jackson, Williams and Parkinson gone. With who they have on the roster and the way they have drafted I don't see them signing any notable FAs.

QB1 in my opinion is the biggest question mark. People speculate the Rams will spend millions on extending Stafford. I think Snead revealed their blueprint going forward. Build through the draft and that especially applies to the QB position noting the advantage that Purdy has given the Niners to hold that roster together for the past two years. They need the carry over cap to begin to extend the stars they have over the last two drafts.

It's why I don't think they will be in the market for Darnold or any high priced vet QB. I think with all his flaws (inconsistent accuracy on short passes) Jimmy will price himself to be affordable as he could get a reset his career type of starting year if he prices himself cheap enough, i.e. in the $20M per year range. Some have speculated that young QBs like Fields could be a cheap bridge. But they don't bring the experience that Jimmy G has along with the trust factor Jim has with Sean.

I think Snead laid it out when he talked about a rookie QB on a rookie contract and the advantages it gives the team in holding the roster together. I think they know Jimmy's inconsistencies, but as we saw at the back end of last season, this is a team that has a defense that can win games.

Also, a bigger threat at RB will go a long way in mitigating any downgrade at QB. RB is the easiest position for a rookie to start games in. I see them taking a RB in the third round who has breakaway speed but also the vision and agility to run inside. I see him being 5'10"- 5'11" about 225 lbs timing in the low 4.4 range. As good as Williams is he simply doesn't threaten a defense the way he would if he were faster.

If they have a RB like that then yeah I can see them being very competitive with Jimmy at QB for a year. The rookie QB will be their #2QB while he acclimates to the NFL and learns from Jimmy how to prepare and play at this level.

I think that is their basic plan and why they aren't going to spend a lot of money on high priced hired guns from here on out. Kamren Curl are the type of vet talent they are looking for. It's why they grabbed Forbes and he becomes their first round CB pick this year. This will be the Ram blueprint going forward IMO.

Your first and last paragraphs are on topic, while the rest of your exceedingly long post is just another rehash of irrelevant points you have made repeatedly in other threads.

Either you’re doing it deliberately, which makes you a spammer/troll, or you have some sort of cognitive issue.

I don't agree much with Dare but its his opinion, that's all, I think some of us are being a little rough on the man. I think we resign Stafford and draft a rookie to sit on the bench a year or two and learn. If not, then go with jimmy a year and let the rookie learn behind him.
