Give Me Your Draft Picks

QB discourse aside, my draft position needs are as follows, CB, TE, WR, OT, RB, and then picks for depth.

Now admitedly, my knowledge of the college game is very limited. I almost only watch Georgia games and even then I miss a few games per season.

All that being said, if I had one specific player targeted in the draft it would be...

Elijah Arroyo. From everything I've seen, this kid is the complete TE.

Anyone specific you've got on your list? Lemme see it! I want tape to watch in the off season.

ILB for sure! Agreed. I kept looking at my listing, knowing I had left something out, but my brain just wouldn't click. :lol2:

But yes, ILB is a pretty big need. I liked what Speights showed late in the year, but I think it's still one of our weakest areas.

I am going to assume QB and LT are signed in house. Prioritized as follows: WR, C, DT, TE, ILB, RB

I will start adding names to those positions once I do more research.

I think we can't know the Ram's draft strategy until we know what picks they have been able to get. I think their best bet is to package both Stafford and Kupp in the trade. I'm hoping for at least a second round pick. A one would be great but I don't anticipate it because both players realistically have about a 2 year self life. The only teams that would want them are those in the win now mode which would be the Vikings who also would seem to have the cap as well. You can imagine the fan excitement in MN if they are signed. They immediately would be able to contend with the Lions and Packers. In two years McCarthy should be ready to start.

That said the Ram's have dropped all attempts at pretense and teams will know they are going to draft a QB. As such I expect the Rams to return to F'em picks and move up in round one to get the guy they want.

IMO Ward is the best QB in the draft in much the same way I thought Maye was the top last year. If the Rams want a young version of Stafford, including not much of a runner, than McCord would be their guy. He's got good arm talent and is good at sitting in the pocket going through his progressions.

If Sean wants a pocket passer who can run then there is Ward and Leonard. IMO Ward will be gone before they pick even if they move up. That said, Leonard should still be on the board if they can get into the top 5. If you like Jayden Daniels then you should like Leonard. Leonard is like Daniels who is both a pocket passer and dual threat. That is what I think McVay wants in his next QB. Given a year to be mentored by Jimmy G. he should be ready to start in year two. If they sign Jimmy to two years they will have a trade potential with him next year.

LT, ILB (if not a vet signing), NT (easier to resign Gaines IMO) RB, and TE can all be taken on day 2 and three. That's why if they can get a second round pick for Stafford and Kupp that would be perfect for a LT. The problem is that both those players have only about a two year self life left. The trading team would need the cap to sign them. The Vikings fill those requirements. This will allow them to be immediately competitive with the Lions while McCarthy learns from Stafford for two years. It's the only trade I see as Win Win for everyone if the Rams can get even a third from the Vikings who don't have a second round pick this year. But with 4 third round picks they can get their LT, ILB, TE, NT. All other positions can be filled via the draft in on day three. They also could use their fourth round pick for Anzalone from Detroit who is a proven run stuffing ILB.

The Rams have McDermott as a bridge at LT. That would be the only reason to carry him all year on IR if they can't extend Jackson on a reasonable contract. They have McClendon and Leveston to compete at RT.

This draft has a whole lot of moving parts. Until the Stafford/Kupp trades are concluded it's hard to say what their needs are and what they will do with them.

I think we need QB, WR, TE, ILB, CB AND LT. I really like the Wr Jack Bech, can't remember from which school. QB is something my mind keeps changing about. I think we need to draft one, which I'm not sure about.

TCU via LSU. He is getting a lot of hype. Very Rams like receiver. Hope he runs at the combine to check his straight line speed. But the Rams don’t really care about that. I like his game a lot.

Latest rumor re: Stafford?

Giants trying to work a trade for Matt. Potentially, Stafford + #26 pick for their #3 pick.

Normally I wouldn't give it much thought. But several Giant players were actively trying to recruit Stafford and Giant management shut them down and slammed the door. Hmmm only makes me wonder. The #3 pick means they might have their pick of all QBs including potentially, Cam Ward. As I've posted previously, IMO Ward is the top QB in this draft. He certainly would fill McVay's wish list needs.

Ward isn't without flaws, but nothing that a year of intensive coaching and mentoring can't rectify. He tends to get reckless at times, which is no different than Stafford in reality. It comes with the gunslinger mentality, some of which McVay likes. The Giants would have to sign him to a 3 year deal with the 3rd year to spread the cap hit.

The major road blocks? Stafford would have to go there for money only not to get a ring. He would have to agree to move to NY for 2 years and homefield is an open air stadium (not good if you have chronic tendonitis).

If Stafford agrees, and believe me that is a big if, the Rams would be fools not to take the deal. They get a QB prospect who already looks like a future franchise QB. Let him sit and correct his issues behind Jimmy for a year. He would be a good fit for this young roster.

All that said IMO the Giants would want more than Stafford and the #26 pick. They will want next year's Ram first round pick. To move up to #3 if they really want a future franchise QB out of this draft, they do it. It's probably less than they paid for Goff.

What surprises me is how much interest Stafford is supposedly getting. All of this might be for naught because he may end up as a one year bridge QB here in LA.

I’m sorry but I pass. There is no QB in this draft that would have been taken in the top half of last year’s first round and many draftniks don’t have a first round grade on any QB in this draft.

Ward, SandersCan you say: Daniel Jones?

After watching another Super Bowl won in the trenches, I won’t argue if we go OT or DL with our top pick.
