Great news, felt it was about 90%. Now Rams dont f around and get something done prior to OTA's.

Awesome!

Pretty sure the Rams will figure out how his compensation helps him and keeps the Rams competitive!

He wants some money though. Make it right and give him some more guranteed money. just redo his deal. And give him a two year deal.

It's a double edged sword. I think it will be a two year deal. Why? Because McVay's contract runs through 2026 my guess is he and Stafford will both be gone in 2027. He probably doesn't want to break in a new QB. That said they should still take a rookie QB to groom for 2 years behind Matt and to play #2QB. If they are smart they will loop in Shula as the presumptive HC in 2027 and have him pick the QB.

The downside is there is a better chance Stafford will miss games over the next two years. So they will need more than a simple project player. Also, it would dictate a first round pick so that they will have control of the rookie QB for 3 more years that he's a starter. Any other round the player is taken will basically leave them in a Purdy like situation. He will expect an extended contract a year before his contract expires.

In weeks 15-17, Stafford was obviously tired. That Bills game took more than Matt's willing to admit out of him. He didn't return to form until he had that second bye. They should anticipate the need to give him additional rest if they get an early or late bye week. If they have control of their playoff destiny they could give the rookie a game of experience, something he would need as a backup going into the playoffs.

IMO McCord would be a likely candidate at pick 26 as he's a good scheme fit and should be fine to start one game to give Stafford a rest. In the second year, they can give him occasional series at QB to enhance his development and prep him for 2027.

That would be the most logical way to approach this situation. If they ignore the QB position another year they could be setting themselves up for an issue. If they draft a QB this year IMO it will be someone they project to follow after Stafford and it would be a tell that Sean will walk away at the end of 2026.

This will add another layer of possibilities to this draft. I'm normally stoked on draft day but this year will be a lot different because it could portend a huge shift for the Rams in 2027.

2027? We rarely know what's going to happen in two weeks let alone two years. And as a true fan I really don't give a fuck about 2026 or 2027 right now. My concern is 2025. If you worry too far ahead, you run the risk of missing the enjoyment of the now. But carry on.

But we don't need any "tells" on when Sean will walk away.

We have you to tell us when anybody and everybody on the Rams will be gone.

If by "tired" you mean "hindered by cracked ribs" then, yes, he was tired. :roll2:

Good news. I always felt he wanted to keep playing. I just hope the team feels the same way. It would be a colossal mistake not to make sure he comes back with the Rams. They have a roster ready to compete. Just need a few more tweaks to make it a championship caliber team. They won't find a quarterback Stafford's caliber. Do everything they can to make sure he's a Ram till he retires.

Two words come to mind.

No brainer.

But, of course, there is the usual amount of angst. Get Darnold. Sign Jimmy G for 23 mil!!! Draft a stud. We need someone who runs like Lamar, throws like Allen and reads like Stafford!!!!
