Just a little fun, prior to the end of this year, free agency and the draft. Which direction are NFL teams headed?

I'll start with the Rams. Up. Homer view? Maybe. Defense should be better. Especially with secondary help. Stafford back and another weapon or two on O would be enough. Health, as always, is the major factor.

How about the six teams with new head coaches.

Dallas? Oh no fooking way are they headed North. They're a major clusterfuck.

Las Vegas? There's something to be said about culture and they need a change. Carroll may be the youngest 72 year old ever but it's still the Raiders. 1 postseason the last 8 years and that was the year they fired Gruden early on!!! It would be pretty hard not to head "up".

The Jets? Love Glenn's performance in Detroit after all those injuries on defense. But they did give up 45 to Washington. It is still the Jets and that's probably worse than still being the Raiders.

Chicago? Ben Johnson. Offensive guru. He'll need more than that playbook and Caleb. He won't have the Lions OL or weapons. They'll probably head up but I'm hearing playoffs and I don't buy it.

Jacksonville? Interesting subject. Liam Coen. Trevor Lawrence. A decent defense. I'm gonna say up. Maybe quicker than most expect.

New England? Vrabel will bring leadership and they have a pretty good QB. I'm gonna say up.

The Saints? Who is the HC? Saleh? McCarthy?

How about the playoff teams?

Detroit? I'm gonna go with down but not a sharp down. They may struggle early with new coordinators but they have a lot of talent. And Goff is a good QB. Playoff team in 2025.

Minnesota? Are they going to re-sign Darnold? Even if they do, I'm gonna say down be it with Darnold or McCarthy.

Green Bay? They were strong this year with Jacobs at RB, that TE and all those WRs. Defense was pretty good. And LaFleur has proven to be a good coach.....has won with and without Rodgers. Up.

Tampa? Lose their OC. Lost at home to start the postseason. Baker is good but I don't see the arrow as up. I don't necessarily see it as down either. And in that division, status quo may be enough.

Washington? Up but what happens today will have a huge affect.

Philly? Much like SF, they're talented but for how long? Hurts isn't not great and without Barkley they're no where near as good. Can he stay healthy? IMO, it all (up or down) depends on his health. Can he duplicate this season next year?

Denver? Up. Mix is good. Payton is smart. Defense was much better than many expected.

Pittsburgh? Down. Tomlin's message may be getting old. No QB. Not a lot of offensive talent.

Chargers? Up with a caveat. Harbaugh is good but he also rubs people the wrong way, so his window is small.

Houston? Ryans did a great job his first two years. Stroud looked great in year 1, no so much in year 2. Now the hard work really starts. Can he get Stroud back to form and maintain the ascension? I'm going with no.

Baltimore? As long as they have Lamar and Henry, up. They are well coached and seemingly always relevant.

Kansas City? They have no where to go but down and hopefully, it starts today.

Buffalo? I think they're headed up but they need to overcome KC today. Even if they don't, the needle will still be pointing North IMHO.

The Rest?

Miami? I think they were a flash in the pan. Tua has concussion problems. Tyreek won't be happy. McDaniels is better suited to OC than HC IMHO.

Cincinnati? Cheap organization. Losing people every year. Burrow covers a lot of warts but there are a lot of warts. Maybe status quo or down.

Cleveland? Down. See Cincinnati without Burrow.

Indy? Wrong QB. Right head coach. We'll see but I don't know what to think.

Tennessee? Don't see the arrow pointing up.

NY Giants? Same as Tennessee.

Atlanta? Interesting team. If they develop that young QB, then the arrow is definitely up.

Carolina? Might be a shocker. Young looked better as the year went on. Maybe he's not a failure after all. If he's not, up.

San Francisco? Purdy's money, free agents all over the place. I'm not gonna say down but I'm not gonna say up either.

Seattle? QB issues? WR issues? Good defense though.

Arizona? Who knows? I'm gonna go with down because Murray is holding them back.
