Mannion, Back to School

Sean Mannion is working out with his former college QB coach, formerly at OSU, now at Nebraska.
Spending free time in Nebraska, by choice? That's got to be a sign of some sort of dedication.
At least he's not working with Kurt Warner. That would be career kiss of death, right Colin?

I am really intrigued by what he can potentially bring to the team this season. Fisher hid him from everything so much last season, let's see if Fisher lets him loose a bit this time around...

Isn't it about time the Rams got lucky at QB? God damnit, Mannion better be it. The past years of QB shuffle is worse than the past OL shuffle. Even if they draft a QB, he won't be ready to play this year. I dread another season of Keenum and Foles.

Nobody is talking about Manion, but he should be in the mix i would think...

I don't understand why he didn't get more of a chance either. Maybe he's just not showing enough in practice? I assume he's going to get a shot but I thought the same thing about Gilbert too and he got shipped out without ever really seeing the field.

If they felt highly enough about Mannion to draft him last year I'd think that he should get a real shot this year. Which means they probably won't be drafting a QB this year. The guys who are going at the top of the draft this year would be graded around where Mannion was last year and shouldn't be over-drafted just because there aren't any other options.

His throwing motion looks awkward to me. Like he's forcing it. Doesn't appear natural. Am I seeing ghosts?

I sure like the top 2 qb coming out this year. Since unlikely we get one it would be pretty awesome if this kid turned out to be legit

His throwing motion has always been quirky. But he manages to get the ball out quickly in spite of that.

All IMO but... --->

In reference to earlier comments, Mannion hasn't gotten much of a chance because (it looks like) their priority was getting Foles up to speed. Remember (and as Snead has pointed out), there's only been 1 year in both his college and pro career combined where Foles played in a full-on pro style offense. Under Kelly for example he had little experience if any under center and making reads while dropping back. So getting Foles up to speed was more than a matter of a qb coming from one team to another and learning a new system. I don't know if under the new CBA, which limits the number of practices, if you can convert a rookie to a pro qb while also getting your veteran starter ready in a system he's not used to (and far more "not used to" than most qbs because of the extended time playing in spread or spread-influenced systems).

This year, as Snead has pointed out, Foles and Mannion are actually competing for a roster spot.
