Asked for his release. Wonder if MCV would want him.

We have 3 QBs but maybe if McVay thinks he's a possible future. But no Baker Mayfield scenario for Jones with the Rams this year.

With Purdy having shoulder issues, maybe SF?

Rams should def consider him, another reclamation project for McVay. Solid to good backup at worst.

I haven't watched enough Daniel Jones to know tbh. But lately I have been wondering if there is an angle we can work to save Trevor Lawrence from the Jags.

I imagine message boards all over the country are asking the same question for their teams.

Probably. Was listening to Sirius Movin the Chains and Kirwin suggested Jones going to a MCV/Shanny offense under one of those coaches, we all know the teams, would be great for Jones. He’s is mobile, fast/can run as a QB, big arm. Needs work in accuracy and his biggest issue - reading/understand defenses and coverages. That last one might be what keeps him a back up.

We will see where he lands, if anywhere this season.

We would have to move a player off the 53 and keep Bennett on the PS to sign him. Not to mention the $/contract/cap aspect.

We still have Jimmy G as our back up, I'd sign Jones and release Bennett. Both Manning brothers totally supported him prior to his draft. That alone, to me, is good enough reason to take a chance. also, we keep him from the Niners.

If not the Rams, then who?

He'll probably not clear waivers. So he could sign for the league min.

The tankathon is on with Las Vegas, so Raider fans don't want him as he is more likely to get a win than with their current QB's.

Assume you meant he will clear waivers, and i agree. No team will claim him, nobody wants that contract.

So the question becomes what are he and other teams looking for?

Something short term, like Baker Mayfield 2 years ago where he got a chance to play, impress, and got himself a starting job the following year?

Or something long-term where maybe he doesn't even play this year but has a real chance to be the team's QB next year?

OTOH, Darnold spent some time with the Niners, didn't play but it still helped him out career wise.

So i guess it could go a lot of ways. I have a hard time thinking he ends up on the Rams but, as always, anything is possible...
