Geron Christian is a very interesting signing. He's been a low-end career backup (i.e. subpar performance) to this point in his career. But why sign him? Because this is a signing for next year. One thing that stood out when looking at him is unlike so many others, Christian has good feet for an OT. Where he's lacking is technique but most of all functional strength. This guy needs a year of focused weight training.

Wendell has done an amazing job with the OL. Give Christian a year to bulk up and strengthen as well as work on his technique and the Rams may have at the very least a solid backup...perhaps a guy who can challenge for the LT start.

My only concern is about Christian's lack of development. Has it been due to issues with coaching or self-motivation (i.e. work ethic)? One of the most overlooked aspects of a good OT is his feet. Christian looks to have good, quick feet. His issues have been poor technique and physical strength. Both of those things are completely coachable areas. It's what makes Larson stand out. He looks like he's got decent feet. IMO Christian's feet IMO are better. Being able to mirror is huge and is one of the things that has troubled Noteboom since his injury in 2022 and again in 2023. Before those injuries, Joe had excellent footwork.

The signing of Christian could keep him on the roster for the rest of the season.

Ya. If a dude has been a below avg career backup, he’s had plenty of time to develop. What sucks about depth that sucks is that they are usually on the scout team. And you can’t give our starting defense a realistic and good looks if your scout team OL sucks. Point is, when you lose starter you also lose quality depth as they have to move up. What comes in behind them typically ain’t pretty (2022 anyone). This hurts the team in multiple ways at the same time.

Nobody's talking about Bruss for OT. He is very improved this year (at OG) but I think he's got better feet than ANY of these guys AND he knows our play calls. Thank God whoever is at LT he won't be playing against Hutchinson

Just want to point out (because this is what i do apparently) not all of these signing are official.

Only Nesheke is official.

These other 2 may well be legit but Rams haven't announced it and they haven't crossed NFL transaction wire...

I just looked at the timeline for both Christian and McVay. Sean was OC in Washington when they drafted Christian so he knows what kind of player he has. Christian's career was derailed by a knee injury in 2020 and he's never really gotten back on track.

Could he start in AZ? Maybe which would account for Nsekhe being on the PS as their swing OT?

You might wanna recheck your search. Geron Christian was drafted by Washington but not when McVay was there. It was 2018. He's been around as much or more than a ten year vet though. Rams are his 7th team. Spent time on practice squads and waived a few times.

He is an “oh shit” vet. As in, “oh shit, we lost another lineman, who we got left”. He ain’t starting.

Thank you I was simply working off of notes I made a while ago on several players at the same time. I obviously got dates mixed up.
