Good crowd. No where to sit. Got there during 1v1 and 7 on 7. Chose to watch the line play. NFL Network was there. ESPN with guest Mina Kimes was there. Todd Gurley was there watching as well.

One on ones - OLvDL (obstructed view)
Both Mathis and Hampton looked good in reps against 2nd team O
Avila is stout, very stout. Handled Fiske on the one rep I could see of Fiske.
K Dot is immovable against anyone - absolutely stoned everyone he faced.
Verse had a nice rep against 71 McClendon
Both Zach Thomas and Logan Bruss had some nice 1v1 reps ( That is not a typo on Bruss, lol) Didn’t get a good look at Fiske today.

11v11: a lot of rotating between 1s and 2s on both sides of the ball.
JG is not accurate deep/ outside the #s (except once, more on that in a bit). Passing game will be limited to middle of the field/short flats with him playing, generally.
Both Kyren and Corum had strong runs in duo and outside zone. Multiple good runs. But the D also had more than a few good run fits and stops.

TEs blocking in the smoke/bubble screen game is gonna be a problem for defenses. Kupp had a nice one with Parkinson out front

Interesting play. Trips right (Kupp, Puka, D Rob) then a swing pass to the back away (left). Smoke and mirrors.

Hunter Long motioned to a wham block and Agent 0 almost took his head off. Knocked him back a yard and a half. Short completion to the flat.

11v11 - Karty is money. 40,45,50. In a row. With lots of leg left. Then he hit 3 more 40-50. Hard to tell the exact distance but he has a big leg.

Second 11v11. Durant with a nice PBU on Kupp Then the run D got a stop for no gain. Lake and Curl at S. Then Curl/JJ + Lake at Star/Nickel-Will

Long with a nice catch/play on a wheel route against cover 1

Tre White and Durant the starters outside, Tre White broke on an intermediate out and almost got the pick. He looks really good.

Kyren and Corum are quick as hell.

Hoecht had a nice run stuff - ate Havs up. He is looking more and more like a quality DE/edge player.
Redzone: Lake makes the play of the day against Kupp on a wheel and go. Pbu at the goal line against about a 20yd route. Cover-1

JG hit Tutu for a long TD. Good pressure but Jimmy moved in the pocket and actually hit the deep shot outside the numbers, granted from that hash. Yeast in coverage
RZ: Staff to Puka on a lightning quick slant. TD
RZ: A nice inside run for Kyren, TD

All in all, O might have got the better of the D, but not by much. Stafford - with this OL, run game, WRs and TEs (they are gonna be big this season) - is primed to have a monster season. This offense can be scary good.

Overall, this is going to be a good football team. They have the potential to be great but we won’t know this right away me thinks. It will probably start really coming together (mostly for the D) after the early bye. I really wish I could go to a scrimmage against another team to get a better feel for the D and the reimagined OL against an enemy opponent and when it will certainly be more physical.

Forgot how hard it is to watch from a distance and take notes at the same time. lol.

Excellent work 34! Just read Jourdan's piece which dovetails nicely with yours.

Did you notice if they tended to stay on one end of the field when they scrimmaged? Monday they did most of the scrimmaging in the south end and i want to plan where to sit when i go tomorrow...

Per Jourdan tweet,

Jonah Jackson arm in a sling, hope its minor, worried about his injury history

Thanks for the write up!

A few comments/questions:

—I listened to the ESPN 710 live broadcast; what a waste of humanity. What is wrong with LA Sportstalk—or maybe it’s just me—there was almost no talk of football outside of a short Mina Kimes visit. I really don’t care to hear about their favorite restaurants, shoe shopping, how skimpy their daughter’s shorts are, who can beat each other up, etc. Absolutely no talk about what was happening on the field except a brief mention of Jonah Jackson being escorted to the locker room—my gut wrenching while they continued the frivolity.

—JG not accurate deep or outside the numbers, just as I remember him with SF. Fortunately Rams have lots of options to work inside.

—TE’s blocking, Parkinson is a really talented blocker on the move so glad to hear they are utilizing him. He can hold up pass blocking a DE also, something we haven’t had in a long time.

—Good to hear Corum’s quickness translating to NFL. The quickness and acceleration of his lateral cuts is really unique.

—Agent 0 is Byron Young?

—Fingers crossed for Karty…kicking cost us 1-2 games last yr. Are they still kicking through the skinny posts in camp?

—So many Rams fans are down on Hoecht and it’s so unfair. Rams put him in positions he can’t be expected to win, covering WR’s downfield, etc. Would Nick Bosa fare any better?

That’s not good for an OL. A slight ankle sprain would be easier to take.

See Peter Schrager from NFL channel. Too bad about Mina she knows ball.
