St. Louis Should Have An NFL Team

Actually, never should have been without one. Cardinals never should have left after 87, and when expansion was awarded in the 90's St Louis should have got one along with Baltimore instead of Carolina and Jacksonville. Was elated when Rams moved back to Los Angeles, but I never, NEVER, bought the argument that St. Louis couldn't support an NFL team. Check out this piece on how well The Loo supports its Football team, while at the same time supporting its Baseball team.
Next Franchise that moves, or if League expands, St. Louis should be the City.

Pretty much useless article. Just Mike Florio stirring up shit again.
The problem is there’s less than zero support for taxpayer money for a new football stadium.
The MLS stadium for City SC was built with 99% private money after voters rejected a proposal. The only reason it wasn’t 100% was they found underground springs that weren’t known and needed protection: so they used federal money.
Plus the baseball Cardinals floated a proposal for renovations to Busch Stadium III a few weeks ago. Pretty much everyone is telling them “hell no”.
And now there are new rumors that a local billionaire is sniffing around the NBA. Either as a suitor for the New Orleans Pelicans or to join the expansion derby with Seattle and Vegas.

The oddest thing about going to Battlehawks games is not having ushers yelling at you to sit down and shut up during defensive 3rd downs. Then if you don't comply, having the supervisor show up with their notebook to threaten to pull your season tickets while a uniformed cop stands nearby.
About the only thing they've done at Battlehawks games was to ask people to stop throwing streamers on the field after touchdowns and to keep them in the stands since the refs supposedly threatened penalties on kickoffs.

"Fans in the seats" is a red herring.
Sharing the revenue from those seats (with 31 other teams) isn't worth an investor's time.
Now if St. Louis could figure out a way to fill the luxury boxes, of which the revenue isn't shared, then the city will get another team.

St. Louis shit the bed with the NFL when it sued. I can't imagine any scenario the NFL would ever consider coming back.

I agree and we don't want the NFL back. Let other cities get abused by billionaires so that $1 billion or $2 billion of taxpayer money is spent to enrich them for venues used 10 days a year.

In today’s toilet bowl economy, asking taxpayers to pay even more taxes when their earnings can’t remotely keep pace with inflation, the cost of living, etc. is insulting. If some billionaire can prove, as Bob opined, that the STL market is a money maker for the rest of the owners, they would have a team yesterday. And, if the league expands, they would need to add 2 teams. Where a the other one going, Oakland???
Oh and why does Florio still have a job in this biz??? Captain Tool.

If I’m the NFL I’m watch the UFL as a value brand and development league option. My old $105/seat season tickets are $28 and priced right.
But what sucks are concessions are still NFL prices. $7 waters, $11 sodas, $16 beers.

I was hoping the UFL would be using something similar to the new NFL kickoff rule so i could see what it looks like but no such luck i guess.
It will be interesting to see if/when the NFL expands. Do they go international? Add more US cities?
Last year the Packers reported $374.4M in national revenue and $235.9M in local revenue. Gotta figure the NFL is more about increasing the national revenue than local since that's the majority and where the big growth potential lies but of course, they want as much of everything as they can get.
The Battlehawks attendance is impressive the the UFL is gonna sink or swim based primarily on national TV ratings...

It’s the NFL that’s copying the UFL kickoff.
