No Doubt, Rams make a run, AD will be there

I have no issue with Aaron Donald retiring or how he's handling it. The spotlight is hard to walk away from and in 2024 it's following him but I have never doubted that IF the rams make a real run and look strong heading for the playoffs AD will be right there suiting up again. And why not? After seeing Von Miller, OBJ, Brady and others grabbing another ring, it ain't about the money but the legacy will be there for the taking and 2 rings are always better than one.

Ramswire today:

"Aaron Donald unsure how he'll feel when football season rolls around"

That's a long way from saying that he's unsure if he'll stay retired.

I have no doubt that this guy is done. He's not coming back.

Not stating this as fact or even saying it will happen, just my opinion and how I feel. Not even worried about it. I found his comment in the Chris Long interview most interesting to the effect, “yeah I REALLY got tired of the double and triple teams”. Just imagine if he’d lined up with Deacon, Merlin or Youngblood all those years.

When the fever hits…he won’t be full

He will miss it. But as the season progresses, and he is not trading like he did in the daily, he will know how hard it would be to come back and he will likely not want to do so. When the playoffs hit, that will be another tug at him. Again, this really depends on what type of physical shape he is in come December. And, how badly he misses the game. I’m with ‘74 on this; I think he’s done.

I Iistened to the entire interview with Chris Long and the other one with his wife Erica.

He is completely at peace with the decision. He aint coming back for a season 100%.
Now would he pull a Weddle if the Rams needed him in the playoffs maybe 10% chance he would do it. He wants no part of camp or practices for that matter.

I have a hard time believing that under the right circumstances AD still won’t come back this year.

Imagine we’re in contention for the #1 seed, and Stafford is lightning it up, and all we need is one elite player on D to be the favorites in the NFC to get to the SB.

We just need AD for 5 games. That’s gonna be tough for him to say no to. A legit shot at a 2nd ring.

Exactly,
Why do you think the RAMs FO left the door open,
and he's still getting paid from the RAMs organization.

I feel he just doesn't want to go through training camp,
and spend time with his kids in Pittsburg during the season.

But during the playoffs, when that time comes around,
Coach McVay, and Stafford will give him a call.
Bro, you're that missing piece, we need you.
You can play as an edge rush, keeping from getting triple teamed.
I'm sure there will be double teams,
But that's a lot less than being triple teamed.

Plus, AD stated, he is not going to stop working out.
It's in his DNA to work out,
he is only 32yrs, in his prime.

He'll make statement, my teammates need me,
So, I'm gonna come out of retirement,
to make one last run at a SB for our team.

Hard to say. When you're doing something you love but it takes hard work to maintain it, you might miss it but you don't miss the preparation. Personally, I can say I still miss playing my favorite sport even though is been ten years since I hung it up. The travel. The camaraderie with your teammates. Pizza and beer after games. But I'm a lot older and my body can't keep up with the younger guys anymore. Aaron is still young enough to compete. No doubt it will be hard on him seeing them on the field. But is it enough to make him come back? That is anyone's guess. One thing I know, if he did come back he would be welcomed with open arms.
