YardbarkerUPDATE: The Dallas Police Department said Thursday night that the investigation into what occurred with Johnny Manziel on Jan. 30 is closed and no charges are expected to be filed. According to reports, Fort Worth police don't plan to charge Manziel, either.More details of Johnny Manziel's alleged altercation with his ex-girlfriend are coming to light.TMZ is reporting that Colleen Crowley told police that the Cleveland Browns quarterback hit her "several times" during an argument on Jan. 30. WFAA.com reports that Manziel told her to "shut up or I'll kill us both," after forcing her into his car and dragging her by the hair. She also told police he appeared to be on drugs.Sources told WFAA.com that Crowley is afraid for her safety and will present an order of protection to a district court judge in Texas.Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Dallas police do not plan to charge Manziel with a crime. Fort Worth will not charge him either. That will not stop the NFL from conducting its own investigation.Crowley said the alleged assault began in Manziel's hotel room early Saturday morning. On Friday night, she and three friends reportedly were in a Dallas restaurant and then visited a number of bars before she met up with Manziel at the Hotel ZaZa. Crowley and Manziel then apparently argued, and when she tried to leave the room, Manziel stopped her, according to the WFAA.com report. Crowley said he "restrained" her and then led her down a stairway to the valet area."I was crying and begged the valet, 'Please don't let him take me. I'm scared for my life!'" she reportedly told police. She says the valet said, "I don't know what to do" and allowed both of them to leave.Manziel then reportedly drove Crowley a short distance to where her car was parked, where she jumped out of Manziel's car and said that she hid in bushes until he found her."He grabbed me by my hair and threw me back into the car and got back in himself," she reportedly told police. "He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car. I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later."Crowley then said she hit Manziel several times in an effort to get out of the car before he shoved her, causing her to hit her head on the window. He also would not return her phone. While they drove on Interstate 30 to her Forth Worth apartment, she yelled, "I hate you!" She said he answered that "he was going to drop me off, take my car and go kill himself."Manziel told TMZ Sports that he didn't strike Crowley."It didn't happen," Manziel said. "I'm completely stable. I'm safe and secure.http://www.foxsports.com/video?vid="I know I've been having fun, but I just need to get my body right. I'm 100 percent committed to playing football."It's the second time since October that Manziel has been under review by the league for a domestic incident. He was cleared of wrongdoing after police were called when he and Crowley got into a heated roadside argument in Avon, Ohio. After Crowley informed police she was concerned for Manziel's well-being following their most recent altercation, they used a helicopter to try to locate the 23-year-old. Police also tried calling both Manziel and his parents, who could not be reached. An officer finally contacted Manziel's father, Paul, who said he had seen his son and that "he was doing fine."The police blacked out several details in their report.Earlier this week, the Browns released a statement saying they were troubled by Manziel's actions and indicated they will release him in March."We've been clear about expectations for our players on and off the field," said Sashi Brown, the Browns' vice president of football operations. "Johnny's continual involvement in incidents that run counter to those expectations undermines the hard work of his teammates and the reputation of our organization. His status with our team will be addressed when permitted by league rules."Manziel has been a major disappointment and distraction during two turbulent seasons with Cleveland. He didn't live up to expectations on the field, and his behavior off it has embarrassed the team. Manziel spent more than 10 weeks last winter in a rehab facility specializing in alcohol and drug abuse. The Associated Press contributed to this report. I’m 100% committed to playing football.”That’s a reasonably strong indication that he knows someone’s ready to provide a soft landing when the Browns inevitably release him.And with a certain owner close to his Texas home providing constant affirmation over the years, the notion that Manziel doesn’t think he needs to change shouldn’t be surprising. He played well on those storied Raiders teams with all of their stick-um,, but Stabler didn't come out of the gate with this type headlines like Manziel is. Sure stabler partied, he was notorious for it, but that was the 60's-70's and the culture was way different than now. Substance abuse policies were not the same when he played either.1991:If not for the NFLPA's decision to renounce its status, substance abuse testing in general, and the League's program/policy in particular, might have remained at the status quo. However, avenues have now been opened for altering the system on both sides of the dispute. Players are no longer protected by the terms of the 1982 Collective Bargaining Agreement and its narrow drug testing provisions. Thus, the NFL, theoretically, could make good on its threat to impose random drug testing on players absent any restrictions in a collective bargaining agreement. The NFL made inroads into the realm of substance abuse testing in 1971 when Commissioner Rozelle issued the NFL's first loosely designed drug policy.' That first policy purported to educate players about the dangers of substance abuse. What Manziel is doing in this day and age of internet, 24-7 public access, social media, cell phone cameras and basically a higher bar set for player behavior and safety, seems very foolish and not in touch with the gift he has been given or his lofty social status. I just can't put those 2 on the same level in today's world.Back then Stabler was cool for it. lol.. Man have times changed..http://scholarship.law.marquette.edu/cg ... =sportslaw GO RAMS !!!
