I know the consensus is CB and Edge because we have 3 legit CBs under contract (Ramsey, Long and Rochell) and at Edge, we have one healthy (Floyd), 2 oft-injured (T.Lew & Hollins) and 1 inexperienced 2nd year guy (Garrett).

We all expect a CB to come off with one of the first two picks and Edge to come off with the other. I've opined that what Ramsnation has felt the last 2 years, hasn't been close to what they've done, so why would 2022 be any different?

Having said that, we know they always seem to surprise us. If it's not a safety who can't cover with the first pick, it's a running back or wide receiver we didn't think we needed. It's really hard to hit on who they're going to take because we don't ever pick in the first round and figuring late second or late third is a exercise in futility.

I list our needs in this order:

1. Cornerback
2. Offensive Line
3a. Edge/OLB
3b. Running back
5a. Tight end
5b. Safety

But they don't seem to draft CB that early. Long in the third (#79) and Rochell in the 4th (#130) are the only two they've drafted the last 5 years. That's a skill position and they like to get them in trade or UFA. I really think they're going to get a CB with one of the first 3 picks.

Offensive line is that nut the blind squirrel finds. We keep saying, "we need OL", "this year we really need OL" or "they have to take OL, particularly a center this year". And they keep saying...."Not so fast my friend!!". Just like CB, I think they're going to get OL with one of the first 3 picks.

Edge will be filled after the draft in free agency I believe. I see them drafting one too but not with any of the first 3 picks.

Running back might be what they feel is their 2nd biggest need. I know I would like to see one drafted. The earlier the better.

Tight end is intriguing. We have Higbee. Blanton and Hopkins showed up later. But this is another "weapon" that McVay likes to accumulate. It wouldn't shock me one bit if they took one early.

Safety is one of those positions in which they don't invest a lot. Money-wise or draft capital. The one time they did, we got Rapp. So this is the position they fill from the 5th on down.

I would love to see all 6 of those positions with Edge and CB being doubled up. One early, one later.

I could see it going a number of ways.

#104: CB, TE or OL
#142: RB, CB or TE
#175: OL, RB or CB
#211, #212 and #218: Edge, CB, OL, TE, RB, S or LB
#238 and #253: S, Edge, CB or OL

Can't wait to watch it.....late Friday and all day Saturday

211) Hassan Haskin RB Michigan
212) Myron Tagolavailoa-Amosa Edge Notre Dame
218) Mykael Wright CB Oregon
238) Nick Ford OL Utah
253) Derek Deese Jr. TE San Jose State

What I think the order is...

1. Cornerback
2. Edge/OLB
3. Safety
4. Running back
5. Tight end
6. WR
7. O line

I think we will draft cornerback/safety, 2-3 picks in this area. Edge/OLB 1-2 picks, RB, WR and TE. Maybe a OL in Round 7.

I'd agree that CB is the biggest "hole" to fill. That said, I don't know that there is a huge dropoff at the position from pick #104 to pick #142. That is why I have us going EDGE first (DeAngelo Malone, Western Kentucky) and CB next (Cam Taylor-Britt, Nebraska).

The short obvious answer is i have no clue.

Another factor is the Rams don't often play rookies a lot, don't draft for immediate need. Nothing's 100% but that's often the case.

Rams need edge? Maybe they're expecting Garret and TLew to fill that need? Maybe a FA after the draft?

Corner, maybe Long and Rochelle, etc.

It's hard to game out because even though rookie contracts are only 4 years, the Rams don't seem to be in any rush to get them making major contributions right away...

Jack, given how far back we are in the draft, if you can hit on any of these picks I will salute you...and if you get the pick number and the guy right, that's drawing to inside straight, my friend.

Holy crap!!!!!

O line 7th?????

LOL. I'm just so used to reading that we need OL, OL, C from 2019-2021!!! I might be a bit high listing OL as the #2 need but I'd bet we take one with one of our first 4 picks.

Are we having a "live draft thread" Friday? I sure hope we don't wait around until #104 and see Snead trade it to Atlanta for a 4th and a 5th.

I just dont see the need for it, guys are signed for a few years and we have some quality backups. I expect to see a late round pick and/or rookie free agents to back fill needs on the OL, but could be wrong.

I am hearing that the Rams are targeting someone at 104, I expect the 4th and/or 5th to get traded down for more picks...

We know the Rams, they'll probably draft another 4 WRs in this draft. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Considering our first pick isn't until very late in the 3rd round I don't see an immediate starter coming out of this draft for us. So drafting for future starters and depth is the likely scenario. The roster is in good shape as is. Maybe just go BPA no matter the position they can find some good talent. Otherwise stocking up on offensive linemen is a good strategy for the future. Maybe DB too when you consider how many you need to have on the game day roster. Maybe find some guys that can be cross trained in multiple positions. Safeties and corners. Guards and tackles.
