We can't get upset with any talking head with a microphone and a tv camera, be they ex-player or not. It's not real. It's entertainment. The thing is a top 5 list of anything should carry a disclaimer like, "today I feel that these are the top 5..." or "at the moment...." or "the opinions of insert talking head here, are not necessarily consensus opinion or fact" but that would ruin the show. In other words they would be saying, "this guy is gonna throw some shit against the wall and see if it sticks" (while you knuckleheads with nothing better to do watch him). :D

Hell isn't James Jones one of those untalented guys the Packers surrounded Rodgers with, who got carried by Rodgers once to a Superbowl win? 8-)

Those 5 had better years then Kupp, I guess. Unless you factor in receptions, yards, TDs, playoff production, game winning plays on the biggest stage after losing a teammate to injury, and MVP awards.

Wait a minute Avenger. Let's look at some numbers. Sure we know Kupp won the triple crown and SB MVP but....

how about catch %?

Kupp only had a 75.9%. Davante Adams had a......72.8% :o
Okay, but Tyreek Hill had a 69.8%.
Keenan Allen had a 67.5% catch rate. Wait a minute, somethings wrong here.
Deebo had a 63.6%....are you fucking kidding me?????
DHop had a 65.6% catch rate.
Am I missing something?

Okay, first downs.....

Kupp had 89.
Adams had 84, Hill had 75, Allen had 66, Samuel had 51 and DHop had 32....2 less than Robert Woods despite playing 1 more game!! WTF am I missing?

Okay, maybe Kupp fumbles a bit. He did it against Tampa in the postseason.
Kupp 0 fumbles in the regular season
Deebo 4! Hill 2, Allen 1, DHop and Adams 0....just like Kupp with less touches.

Maybe it was yards per catch?
Aha!!! Deebo averaged 18.2, DHop 13.6 and Kupp 13.4, Adams 12.6 (with the MVP throwing to him????) and Allen had a 10.7!!!???? Are you fucking kidding me James Jones?

We can find 2 catagories of 35 (7 catagories X's 5 receivers) where one of those 5 bested Kupp? And they're ranked higher by James Jones (a 3 game starter in the Packers 2010 SB winning season....read: #3 receiver). Okay, sure. Sorry, I didn't take the high road. So sue me!

Great post!

What about availability? ... as in how often he is OPEN for his QB?

Does anybody care about that stat? Does anybody know? Does it even make a difference?

How important is a WR's speed if he can't get open?
How important is a WR's hands if he can't get open?
How important is a WR's route-running skills if he can't get open?
How important is a WR's YAC if he can't get open?

So how many times did Devante Adams get open this past season? 169 (awesome ...no sarcasm here ... it really is an awesome number)
Anyone know how many times Kupp got open this past season? 191

Lets do some math ... 191-169=22
Lets do some more math ... Kupp being available for his QB is MORE than 10% better than Adams was for his QB (13% is a more accurate number)

Those 22 targets netted Kupp how many more catches than Adams? 145-123=22 oh that number 22 sounds familiar. ... those 22 more times being open resulted in 22 more receptions ... or (doing the math) 18% better production rate.

I don't know who the writer of the Top-5 list is ... my guess is that he was formerly an intern for the St. Louis Post Dispatch when the Rams were in St. Louis ... even if he isn't a hater, the sports writers in St. Louis sucked... reading their shit was like eating food out of a dumpster.

There are some amazing Super Bowl related articles in The Athletic. Not gonna share those articles here anymore though.

Well, there is the fact that in his 5 years in the league, Kupp never made a ProBowl until this year. And he turns 29 in June.

Seriously, if he gonna make the HOF he needs a bunch more ProBowls and all pro teams. One or two aren’t enough.
