POST #1 TOPIC AUTHOR http://www.insidesocal.com/nfl/2016/01/ ... ve-to-l-a/Rams: Chris Long open to a pay cut to make the move to L.A.Posted on January 20, 2016 by Vincent BonsignoreAs the Rams make their way back to Los Angeles, one of the pressing questions is how many of their current players will make the trip with them from St. Louis. And for some, that might mean adjusting their salaries to help ensure they will land in Los Angeles along with the Rams.Veteran defensive end Chris Long is already bracing for that reality. Long is entering the final year of his contract and is set to make a team-high $14.25 million. That is a significant hit to the Rams salary cap, especially for someone who missed 14 games over the last two seasons and managed just four sacks between 2014 and 2015 after recording 33 sacks over the previous three seasons. As a result, Long’s future with the Rams could mean having to adjust his salary to fit his current level of reliability and production.Long expressed a willingness to ESPN.com to do just that in order to play out the final year of his Rams’ contract.“Of course,” Long said. “But I’m not a guy that, I mean, the last two years I have been paid more than I’ve performed. That’s just the bottom line. It’s a business. Sometimes teams win and sometimes teams lose with that stuff so you’re certainly not rushing to give the money you earned back. You can’t control certain things with injuries and such but of course I’m open to doing something like that. It’s not about the money at this point for me.” RFU Season Ticket Holder by Badmojo 9 years 5 months ago Total posts: 26 Joined: Jan 13 2016 LA Coliseum Undrafted Free Agent Re: Rams: Chris Long open to a pay cut to make the move to L.A. POST #3 I know he's been injured and his production is down, but we've got to try to keep him. His presence and spirit are key to team chemistry. POST #4 This would be a good move. Rams would not have to draft a DE early in this years draft and depth behind Hayes. Hopefully moving to LA may influence players, like long, to play for less. POST #5 A Norma Jean sighting,,, nice.CL sees the writing on the wall with the cap and all the FA's. I hope the Rams can afford to keep him even with a pay cut. JL is next. And we need to keep our secondary growing together to help CL with his coverage sacks. GO RAMS !!! GO DODGERS !!! POST #7 I don't get sentimental about Long. Take his pay out of it and he looked like the worst DE on the team to me last year. He just doesn't have any explosion off the ball anymore. I watched him get a great jump off the snap repeatedly in the Seattle road game and he still couldn't get around the RT. When was the last time Long made a game changing play? Him and Saffold are no brainer cuts for me IMO. That money will be needed for the entire secondary. The team is in a solid position with Quinn, Longacre and Westbrooks. Resign Hayes and draft a developmental guy with some burst. I appreciate how he handles himself and his approach, but it's time to move on IMO.
