Anyone else contemplating going to the game?

So I’m out of state, live in AZ, but I’m seriously considering going to the game. Been keeping a close eye on ticket prices all week (and yes I know they’re absolutely ridiculously priced), I’d have to get a ticket in the nosebleed sections obviously but I’m viewing this is as a once in a lifetime opportunity (Rams in their home stadium for the Super Bowl, SoFi’s 1st super bowl etc)

If I go I’d be booking plane fare, currently looking at $162 round trip if I flew in to Burbank on Sunday morning (day of the game) and flew home on Monday morning. Have found a few hotels near the Burbank airport that are decently priced, but then I also have to consider the price of an rideshare from there to SoFi (and then back after the game).

When the Rams moved back to LA I was a season ticket holder at the Coliseum for 3 seasons, would fly in the day of the game and fly back the same evening. The last Rams game I attended in person was at the Coliseum during their Super Bowl season.

Anyone else considering going?

Prices have come down a bit. If you can afford it! It would be a nice way to see SOFI, if you’ve never been.

I’m a local and decided it too expensive for myself, personally.

So I just checked. It’s around 50 bux to Uber from bur to SOFi. So 100 bux round trip. The price might be funky the day of SB, but you should just walk away from SOFI and the Uber will be fine then. Like walk next door to Target and take the Uber there or get dropped off at Target or In n Out instead of SOFI.

Also there are Flyaway(airport parking) busses that might save you some coin…but you have to transfer and wait, etc.

Yeah I’ve been using the TickPick app since they have no fees involved, the fees on stubhub for these tickets are insane. Or maybe it’s always the same % of fees but since the tickets are expensive the fees are that much greater.

Since I don’t know the area very well how far of a walk is it to Target? Is the immediate area around SoFi more built up now? Meaning all the shopping complexes etc. I know they had plans to make it even more of an entertainment district but I wasn’t sure how much of that is finished currently.

Thank you for very much for your advice Ziggy, really appreciate it!!

It’s in the city. I think there’s going to be a lot of fans (drunk and otherwise) but also a lot of police. So you won’t get mugged, but may have to ignore heckler types to avoid trouble.

Target is like a .3 mile walk from the gates of SOFI. In n Out burger is in that same mall complex. So the area is very walkable. Inglewood itself is pretty urban LA, so graffiti and homeless if you get like 1-2 miles outside of that SOFI area.

Btw LAX is probably 5 miles or less from SOFI. So there are “free” shuttles from hotels near LAX to SOFI if you know what you are doing and willing to walk like .5 mile to get to stations and wait in lines.

Finally since you are just looking for 1 ticket. If somehow 1 ticket to sb in the 400-500 section is 6k and a ticket to the 100s is 9k. I would pay the difference. The 100 level in SOFI is amazing. You’d walk right up to the field and the restaurants and bars at the level are much better. Since this is once in a lifetime… also who knows whose in the crowd in the 100s.

Thank you for all your info.

The reason I’m thinking of a Burbank airport hotel is because the hotels near LAX that weekend are priced fairly high. Otherwise I for sure would be getting a hotel near there.

I hear what you’re saying about the difference between the 400-500 section and the 100 section. That’s why I’m continuing to monitor the prices of a ticket. I’ll most likely purchase a refundable plane ticket today so at least I have that and then continue to keep an eye on the prices for the game.

I would not pay that price difference for the 200s, however. 100 circle vs 200 is a big jump. In terms of restaurant quality and the access to things you get.

That is awesome Jeff! Hope you can go. <3

Do, however, be prepared for the impossibility of getting a ride share after the game unless you walk to somewhere else to get it. Also, they will have surge pricing - guaranteed. But, as long as you know that it can't ruin the experience!!

I’ve never been impacted by surge pricing— but I don’t use Uber a whole lot and don’t live in NYC so I don’t know a whole lot about that.

I do know about LA gridlock and I know that SOFi and freeways around SOFI can and will get all jammed up around Super Bowl. So yes, expect up to 2x price or just paying more cause you are stuck in an hour+ commute between Burbank and SOFI.

But if you go early and hang around late… you should be ok. If you’re in a hurry, it’s not going to work and will be expensive. They will also kick you out of SOFI probably 30 minutes after the game/celebration ends. I hope the tailgating stuff happens and runs late. That would be an awesome place to hangout before and after the game. And that’s right in the Pink lot right next to Target and In n Out burgers.

Surge pricing isn't a NYC thing (though they also have it). It is a RideShare company thing.

In San Diego, to get from downtown to where I lived in a north county beach town (Encinitas) was usually about $50. During Fri/Sat nights between 11pm - 2am (when drunks need a ride) - could surge up to $200 or so.

Here in Dallas right now, Uber Eats has increased delivery fees to $20 - $50 (normally a couple dollars) because of the scarcity of drivers in the snow/ice.

It's a business.

I live 4 miles from SoFi. Uber was $70 to get home from there. Took over an hour to secure one. We learned early on that ride share was not going to be a viable option. Can't imagine what it will be like with the Superbowl, given the amount of travelers in town who will all need rides to their hotels.
