NFL Looking at potentially moving Superbowl from SoFI

I am listening to SiriusXM - Movin the Chains and they are reporting the NFL is looking at alternative sites for the upcoming Super bowl that is currently to be played at SoFi. This is due to the massive Covid/Omicron outbreak in SoCal.
What a shame it would be if the Rams get there and it's not even played in SoFi. looking at Cowboy stadium in Arlington, TX.

They're talking about it here in St. Louis but played it down.
-the NFL always keeps a warm spare, even pre-COVID.
-the NCAA keeps Lucas Oil Stadium as a permanent backup for the mens Final Four. This goes back all the way to 9/11 and the RCA Dome days.

Story from Dallas TV station.

The NFL has reached out to AT&T Stadium to check on its availability as a backup 2022 Super Bowl venue; Arlington officials say the city is ready to host if needed.

So covid doesn't travel to Texas? The Superbowl is 6 weeks away. How do they know Texas won't be as bad or worse than So Cal by then? Hell make it a better party. Play it in Hawaii. I heard they did pretty well managing covid.

It has nothing to do with the number of sick people. They are more concerned about the potential for restrictions that would reduce or ban fans in the stands.

It is not whether or not Covid is in Texas or not - it is that Texas is handling things different than Cali is and so would allow it to be held here.

My feelings on this will depend a lot on if the Rams are in it or not.
I really, really doubt this gets moved but we’ll see…

They would have to make this decision quickly. Like in 2 weeks or less.

Yeah, that couldn't be a last minute decision. The league does seem to be jumping the gun some though. A back up plan seems wise but shouldn't be such a big deal. This seems different.
So TX is easier on the mask thing? This is why? No test requirements? How different is it really? And as has been mentioned, how can they predict how things will be in over a month?
Sooooo, did ESK ever pony up and pay the StL award or did he stand by his about face to pay?
