CALL ME OBDURATE, BUT OL IS STILL MY WORRY

Snead had a #57 shot at the #1 OC in the 2021 Draft, Creed Humphrey. Snead passed, and now Humphrey looks like Rich Saul, or even better. :|
I guess the thinking was that we had enough OL talent for 2021 to accomplish our season's goals. :idea2:

THE BIG QUESTION: Will Matthew Stafford be afforded enough time by our OL to be his effective self over the next month? :?2:

I sure hope so......but I do fret about our OL's ability to handle the elite Ds that we will be encountering over the next month or so. :idea2:

Well we do have a few men down and it would have been helpful now to be a bit deeper on the line.
Allen likely isn't a Humphries either but he was doing well before he went down.
Considering Atwell was chosen instead of CH doesn't help but our Oline intact was playing well.

GB, Tennessee and SF did give us trouble. Perhaps it won't be as easy next time as the good guys now know what's coming.

I just wish they were all there for Minnesota.

Obdurate - Pretty fancy word. Right up there with some of my favorite words, including "nefarious" and "unsavory".

I can remember when drafting Cam Akers at #52 (after we had taken Henderson the previous year) and then Van Jefferson at #57 (when we already had Kupp, Woods and Reynolds) while passing up such players as Ezra Cleveland, Matt Hennesey and Lloyd Cushenberry might prove to be our downfall. Cleveland has started 23 of 27 for the Vikings. Hennessey is Atlanta's starter at C and Cushenberry has started all 30 games for Denver. Then this year, we took Tutu instead of Creed Humphrey who's been a stud for KC. But somehow without those 4 OL studs, we've managed to be a respectable 20-10 without them. KC is 10-4 with Humphrey, Minnesota is 14-16 with Cleveland, Denver is 12-18 with Cushenberry and Atlanta is 10-20 with Hennessey. :o

The problem with the draft is you can't take everybody. You have to make a "choice", which is why they're referred to as draft picks prior to the draft, then draft "choices" afterwards. And sometimes, you can't really evaluate a draft pick for 2 or 3 years.

I worry about things too. I worry about whether Stafford will win a postseason game. I worry about whether McVay will be outcoached in the postseason. Ah crap, who am I kidding? I don't worry about any of that stuff. I have confidence in our front office, coaches and players. They've proven they can win games. Any games. And isn't what the NFL is all about? Winning the game in front of you, not 5 weeks down the road.

What's that saying about 'worry'? It's interest paid on a debt you don't owe?

Is sort of ironic that missing guys on the the O line we'll end up being our biggest problem considering we thought the online with those guys was the biggest problem..
