so cowherd points to the packers as a team that's done it right? they haven't been to a super bowl since the second year of obama's first term, have been to just one super bowl in rodgers' 16 years with the team, and have missed the postseason 2 of the last 4 years, but they've done it right, got it.

the patriots? now it's safe to point to the patriots again? now that they've gone on a 6-game win streak and aren't sitting at 2-4 following a 7-9 no postseason year? they're of course a team that's done it right even tho they're 15-13 post brady, correct? btw didn't the pats add shoe-in hall of famer randy moss and proceed to win a super bowl the same year?

the rams went out and got suh, talib and peters and went to the super bowl, but let's not mention that.

news flash: lots of teams have "done it right" and have nothing to show for it, and haven't had anything to show for it for many, many seasons - some teams have hit the qb lotto and have ridden their luck to great success, some teams have added big-name free agents, some teams have gone the value guy route, both approaches have produced success and not much success, just like every other approach that's been tried.

If win a Superbowl = "done it right" , that leaves a lot of teams out.

If get to a Superbowl = "done it right" , that includes additional teams

If get the postseason ysar after year = "done it right", that's a handful of teams and all of them have probably done it differently.

There really is no right way or wrong way because all that matters in the end is winning consistently.

The Rams "don't care about 1st round draft picks" while some teams use them every year, year after year. The thing is, whether you draft players with them or trade them, you are "using them'.

With Cowherd or any other talking heads, the team that's "doing it the right way" or "the team with the most talent" or "the team with the best coaching" is the team who is currently winning. And that can change in a heartbeat, so what does that mean?

Got less talented?
Coaching worse?
Doing it the wrong way?

The Bucs are a super team and they won last year lol

Correct. However, Donald was drafted before the picks started getting traded away for the big names/big contracts and some of our starters should not be starters (Reeder, whoever mans the off CB slot, Rapp, etc.)! We are filling in some sub-starter material because we lack the draft/cap space to retain quality starters like Troy Hill, Corey Littleton, and John Johnson. We blew out Brockers and Young for chump change to make some room. Not good!

The Rams certainly have traveled a path that has lead to a top-heavy cap structure. All in all, its worked out pretty well. I think that this year we've been hurt by a high number of injuries among our low-priced contributors (or players who were expected to contribute, at least on special teams), including Akers, Hollins, Mundt, SJD, and a huge chunk of the rookie class (Atwell, Harris, Funk, Skowronek).

I think Cowherd is off on this take. Sure super teams don't always develop chemistry. It happens. This team has been a passing team for years since Gurley's wheels unexpectedly fell off. Identity? Jet sweeps and power running? Great to have but injuries can alter chemistry. The Akers loss this year did affect the play calling. Some of the intricacies of the passing game dissapeared with the loss of Woods.
If anything McVay's play calling seems to have become more one dimensional, , , or is it Stafford changing plays and leaning towards the pass? The amount of empty backfield I might lean toward the former.
But as far as star power super teams go, I guess Aikman, Smith and Irvin were just pedestrian. Or did he mean the system made these guys superstars as opposed to a bunch of superstar players being accumulated on a wannabe super team?
This years Rams didn't start that way. We brought in Stafford in an attempt to improve the QB position and Jackson to stretch the field. Still not considered a "super team". Cost aside, I felt most thought they were solid moves, including Cowherd and Aikman.
After seeing the team perform and losing a few players, some weaknesses reared up. That coupled with trying to play a home Superbowl and sell tickets while the F'n battle for LA (with the Chargers) is going on, the Rams made some changes.
So now, 2 big name guys with a load of talent and a bit more gas in the tank were brought in to go with our now called "super team" that for the most part was organically grown.
Sure Whitworth, Woods, Watkins, Cooks, Talib, Peters, Suh and a few others were brought in over the years. Name a team that doesn't try to accumulate good players. So then why did no one mention us doing the exact same thing before? Are we really that different than any of the teams they mentioned on the broadcast? It sounds like they all were wowed by the moves the team made and now since it isn't showing the expected results, they want to shovel dirt on us. And it's as if they are saying, bringing in Von and OBJ is somehow a bad thing. Draft capital not withstanding, , I don't get it.
