I am busy at work these past months as the Port of Vancouver is doing its best impersonation of the perpetual LA/Long Beach Ocean Container dysfunctional, gridlock, non-fluid clusterfook shitshow nowadays.....so I am only presenting Goff's numbers okay...

plus I didn't want to rub Goff-likers faces into it too much , as we all know how well Stafford has shown up in The Horns so far, despite last week's bump-in-the-road.

So, per ESPN stats, Jared Goff's Tale-Of-The-Tape at the QuarterPole mark:

Obviously signing Goff to that big contract was a mistake. It happens. They did it with Gurley too. And Cooks. They recognized their mistake and corrected it. Its what good front offices do. Every front office makes mistakes. The good ones know how to work around those mistakes and maintain a good team.

what I do NOT like is when we in Ramsnation point out said mistakes
EG. keeping that mook Kromer around for a coupla years too long;
having a shitty crop yield on our 2018 Draft;
noticing how crappy Goff is playing now in Detroit, and posting about how weak his leadership was here as our Rams QB....

when you point out these fook-ups and try to discuss them here at RFU, there seems to be a cadre of what I call Self-Appointed Hallway Monitors who want to discredit the individual who is pointing out the Ram fook-up.
And this has happened to max, R4L, and me....and others.

Good grief, can we not still be 100% loyal Rams fans and still be allowed to point out and even be critical of Rams braintrust screw-ups?! Or do thoughts like that have to be attacked and marginalized?

I don't think that is it normal with adult gatherings for there to be a stifling of critical thoughts and opinions. I am from the school of "Viva Les Differences!" and let guys speak their minds.

Historically, with adult gatherings in places like East Germany, the SSD "Stasi" thought police would root out the criticizers. That system ended up where it belonged.....in the trash bin of history.

The contracts for Goff, Gurley and Cooks WERE fook-ups. I agree 100%.
and I don't think guys should be marginalized as "women scorned" with hellish vengeance in their hearts, just for pointing out that we fans DO pay attention and occasionally expose said fook-ups for what they are......IE. fuck-ups!!
Oh, and the flipside of that scorned woman deal? Being a Stepford Wife and just goin' along with Homerism 24/7.

I thought Kromer was lousy. Eventually McVay did too.
I thought Goff had plateaued as a NFL QB, and moreover had the leadership molecule of a Jimmy Carter. Eventually McVay did too.
I called Jeff Fisher a Dumkopf in ByeWeek 2016. Eventually Kroenke thought so too.
I thought Higbee was overpaid and overrated as a NFL TE.....and whilst Mr. Higbee had a helluva December in 2019, I still opine that on a "Dollars per TD basis", Tyler Higbee is probably MiddleOfThePack (at best) amongst NFL TEs!

Nobody is stifling anybody's thought and opinions. But everybody knows what you think of Goff. Repeatedly. We get it. The only problem I have is when you keep repeating the same stuff over and over and over again. We get it.

Thing is, that guy is gone now. We don't have to keep reliving it. This isn't Groundhog Day.

It's simple. Goff and Wentz were 1-2 or 2-1 . The Rams traded up for Goff, Philly for Wnetz. Both got it wrong. Both looked promising. Both failed. It happens. Funny Philly went for another QB high and the Rams traded for one

Cowherd did a comparison of Stafford vs Goff today and he was laughing. He said the Rams stole him. And it's taken less than a year to see it.

Stafford / Goff Comparison after 15 weeks (Goff played 15 games last year).

Stafford (2021; 11-4) 357 of 534 (66.9%) for 4339 yds (8.13 y/a) with 36 TDs and 13 Int, 104.0 QB rating
Goff (2020; 9-6) 370 of 552 (67%) for 3952 yds (7.16 y/a) with 20 TDs and 13 Int, 90.0 QB rating

You'd have to add Goff's 2021 TDs (17) in 13 games to pass Stafford.

Stafford should be better in 2022 with Woods & Akers & possibly OBJ and whatever other skill players Snead and McVay add, so it's quite possible the 2023 first round pick will be near the bottom of the round too. I agree completely. Just would like to see him get a little smarter and disciplined about situational football. He is a massive improvement…but he’s not Rodgers or Brady and going to make a good read and extremely accurate throw virtually every time. If he can play smarter (we’re not the Lions, we can win out heroics on every play), then the sky’s the limit and the trade will usher in the best era of Ram’s football we’ve ever seen.

For me, I guess we'll find out come playoff time. The offense is drastically more talented this year then last with the additions of Jackson (short stint), OBJ, Michel, Allen replacing Bylthe, Corbett and Edwards development along with Van Jeffersons. So comparing Goff 2020 to Stafford this year doesnt add up to me. Its a completely different team.

Does Stafford play a big role in the playoffs. That will determine the overall grade of the trade. In my opinion.

Overall I've never doubted Stafford is better then Goff. I'm in the minority but I'm still not completely sold he's a major upgrade. Upgrade over 19/20 Goff? Sure! I can't really grade Goff in Detroit even though he has the same passer rating with a dismantled Lions team as he did with the Rams last year. So if anything he's proven he can play without McVay.

Regardless, short term Stafford gives us a better chance I would think. Hopefully it plays out well for us in the playoffs.
