We should consider what the Jones letter is really all about. It's more than just a suggestion to come up with a compromise. It's a stage setter for the formal announcement this week. It is a very powerful statement on the direction of the decision.

And I have wondered if we will hear that Jerry Richardson has sent a letter in favor of Carson and Spanos.

Does anyone believe we will? First off, he is too focused on his team's playoff game. Second, with the NFL declaring STL stadium plan dead, JR won't push against it.

My read is that this thing has been choreographed by the NFL. They are setting the tone for their announcement this week. You see, I don't think Jones sends that letter out without Goodell's blessing.

At this point, the ball is in Spanos' court. He can either move to Inglewood this year or stay in SD with an option to move to Inglewood. There are other loose ends to work out. What happens with Iger? Who gets financial help outside of LA? But they will get ironed out and have no effect on the who goes to LA.

One thing I am almost certain about. Carson is dead. We never even remotely saw any details about the Carson plan. There was never any mention of the Carson stadium guaranteed open date and the deadline for that was last week. According to Ian Rapoport, the owners clearly prefer the Inglewood plan. That isn't because they love Kroenke. It's obvious that Carson is filled with uncertainty and shortcomings. No investor would prefer that to Inglewood.

Then there is the matter of Davis. Rapoport also said the owners have a big issue with the $550M relo fee getting paid. And who do you think they have the biggest issue with paying it? Not Stan, that's for sure. Add the relo fee to several owners' concern about the Raiders brand in LA, and you've got your answer for odd man out in LA.

This entire saga from the very beginning has been another example of what Kroenke does, as has been reported throughout the past year, he keeps hammering away until the deal gets done.

Fairly soon, it will be of interest to take stock of the media folks and their credibility in this story. Guys like Ben Allbright and Ian Rapoport were straight and accurate with their reporting. Others were deliberately deceptive and misleading, such as Scott Reid and Dan Kaplan. And then there were guys like Vinny, who in my opinion was mostly self-serving and prone to protracting reporting, constantly playing both ends against the middle. I actually cut the STL guys some slack on their ridiculously biased reporting because you'd have to be an idiot to consider anything they said as accurate.

I understand that we've been on this thing for so long that it's hard to believe we are finally there. It's in the air now, you can't stop something when it's in the air.

People get ready, there's a train a coming. Don't need no ticket, you just get on board.

Also, I believe it is too late to realign the divisions. 1 NFC, 1 AFC is the only option. Rams commited to play Giants in London. That is the 3rd place NFC WEST vs. 3rd place NFC EAST. Too late to change.

Using the word "reporter" and Bernie Miklasz and Shane Gray together would make any journalist throw up. From the Lou, David Hunn and Ray Hartmann have been good for the most part by attempting to report as opposed to Bernie and Shane's spewing propoganda.

That's an interesting point about the Rams-Giants game in London. Make you wonder if Goodell and Jones knew all along how this would go down.

Interesting that Jones wasn't on the LA Committee, but he is showing his power at the critical time.

Bernie and Shane are pimps for STL. I never considered anything they said against Rams to LA as worrisome.

after I win the billion dollar lottery I think I'll help out Mark Davis get his stadium.
Of course I'll have a luxury box in Inglewood for us and 50 yard line seats for those who feel like going old school.
You're welcome in advance

I have to say there is no more visible owner than Jerry Jones. He is second to none. And it would make sense for him to get approval from Goodell before releasing that statement.

There is good reason to believe that the league wants to bring this in softer than pulling the bandaid to temper the affects of shock. Like anger.

Having a difficult time seeing this go sideways.

Yes, I have always been, will always be, and starting next season, will be in SoCal cheering for your....LOS ANGELES RAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

More than anything for me personally, it's going to be MUCH harder for me to keep hating the Cowboys with as strong of a passion with Jerry being such a champion for Kroenke getting to LA and bring the Rams home.

Nothing... nothing will ever get me past my hatred for the Cowgirls :)

What's Vinny talking about here? Which owner?
