1. Davis paying the $550M is a big deal to the NFL.
2. Owners clearly prefer Inglewood over Carson. Carson has serious problems.

A big deal in what way? Not sure I understand.

I didn't listen to the interview, but I assume the comments cane from an interview he had this morning on a STL radio station. Here's a couple of tweets related to the interview.

Here's the link to the podcast that has the interview.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport Talks Latest on Rams' Future, St. Louis Stadium Project

Brendan Marks posted on January 08, 2016 09:07

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport joined The Ryan Kelley Morning After on Friday to discuss several dynamics surrounding the future of the Rams, Chargers and Raiders and the viability of the St. Louis stadium project.

We typed up some excerpts and included some tweets paraphrasing the interview, which you can listen to here:

What's your opinion of the situation?

"It's getting closer, obviously. I'd be lying if I said I had a firm solution. A big breakthrough has to open. Nothing really matters for real until (next week in Houston)."

How firm is the partnership between Dean Spanos and Mark Davis?

"Everyone says it's very strong. The Raiders say it's very strong. The Chargers also say it's very strong. To me, everything has a price. I don't think it's a (strong enough partnership) to get in the way of a team moving to Los Angeles. In other words, if there was a way for the NFL to get the teams that they wanted in Los Angeles, they would figure out a way to take care of whoever is getting left out. I'm not 100 percent positive (the partnership is strong enough) to last through this process."

On the possibility of Spanos and Kroenke partnering up:

"A Spanos-Kroenke partnership wouldn't make sense unless they were going to do it at the same stadium. Which could happen. There's a lot of public words, a lot of stances that you'll hear, especially coming from the Chargers. A lot of this is negotiation, a lot of this."

What do you think the chances are St. Louis is an NFL city in the future?

"I would say this: I think the chances of the Rams being in St. Louis next year are not great, obviously. But I do think the NFL views the city of St. Louis as viable. So if it's not the Rams, I would say down the road...I would say there's a chance another team would go there at some point, maybe some point soon."

Do you think there's a chance the Rams are not allowed to relocate?

"I think for some owners who are set on making sure Dean Spanos is taken care off...they may say the Rams don't meet the relocation guidelines. But there are plenty of others who don't think the St. Louis stadium project is viable."

I'd sure like to hear the supposed reason(s) some owners don't think the Rams qualify for relocation. I've heard it over and over but no one's ever specified "why".
