It's the wrong year to try and get paid for OL free agents. Just ask Joe B.

Is it telling that Mathis has essentially been on the trading block for two straight years and the Eagles got so little interest that they have now just released him? Or that as thin as the Eagles are at guard, that they're willing to just dump this guy who's been to the pro-bowl? Doesn't speak well to his current situation. Not sure what he's arguing from his side of things but from what I've read, seems like he's a bit of a problem child.

Mathis would be a nice addition but the cost is the question and what the team is willing to spend. It is telling though that he's been shopped for 2 years and received no offers. He was rated PFF's #2 guard last year, take that for what it's worth. I'd be happy if they signed him but I would be equally happy with Blalock who is certain to cost less and if he doesn't start be less of a clubhouse drain.

The guy signed a contract, now doesn't want to live up to the contract he signed, I'd just as soon let him & his alter ego take a long walk on a short pier & not have our rooks in the same room with him...Blalock would be ok with me as well...
