CL over Fowler. All day long. We have some youth like Obo who can rotate at OLB and look promising as a pass rusher. We have squat inside that does anything close to what CL does. And the deal will be cheaper inside than outside. Fowler, 1 good season. CL every season as a Ram has been good, and improving. And has a higher ceiling, IMO.

Franchise Tag and work on long term deal. ILB that can tackle and are good in coverage are not easy to find. We developed this unheralded UDFA, let’s not let him walk away like we did with London Fletcher.

With the cap rising and some easy restructures we can afford Littleton

Sign him at veteran minimum and hire his Dad as a scout or coach for BIG $.

the jayhawks did that with Danny Manning in the early 80's. His family got rich and so did danny.

Just thinking. Is there a league rule against it? If it hasn't been done before I suggest that we do it first in a big way far ahead of the curve. (a new rule abolishes the practice but meanwhile we have re-structured everyone's contract and we are cap rich for years.)

Just thinking. I'll have a couple beers and think some more.

so is littleton an example of building through the draft and udfa?

- went undrafted.
- was a defensive backup his first two years in the league (11% of defensive snaps in 2016, 12% in 2017 through the first 13 games).
- put together two solid years as a starter in his next two seasons in the league.
- and now demands a king's ransom in order to keep.

whatever the case, littleton has been a helluva lot of fun to watch and pull for the last couple of years, and his ability to (seemingly) always be in the middle of big defensive plays has stretched the limits of probability - hustle, talent and getting to the ball increases a player's chances at making a big play, but littleton's knack for being at the right place at the right time, and making the play, has just been bizarre!

Cory is exhibit 1A for extending a vastly underpaid, helluva find, player.
We just gushed and went over the top (especially on Goff, IMHO) and did nothing for Cory until now, when we have too. He is the exact type of player to look at extending a year early to a) give him lifetime security and b) give us a better deal. Why would Cory offer us any discount now? I think he's a top 5 ILB when you look at how many turn overs he creates too.
Fowler is very good, but he IS playing next to the best DT in NFL history. Sheit, Canuck could probably get at least 5 sacks out there. :D :shock2: Play the youngsters and let him walk.
