Good moves IMO by Sean McVay on a number of levels.

1. Youth, fresh ideas.....new blood!

2. Kevin O'Connell will have a pipeline to Redskins players he coached and worked with, as will Brandon Staley with having his Bronco player connections .....

maybe one or two ex-Redskins/Broncos UFAs are motivated to tell their respective Agents:
"Hey ace....if the numbers look close enough, then I prefer the LA Rams as a landing spot!"

3. Just a whole new energy level. Renewal. I like what McVay has pulled off so far.
BUT....
to top these two acquistions,
I mean to replace Bones Fassel,
McVay is gonna have to sign friggin' Tom Cruise!!!!

Me? I like the way it all looks and feels. We'll see how it works, but I think it shows McVay's decisiveness and ability to be self-critical and humble.

Canuck, once again you asked and you received - now if only Krome would get the proverbial axe, eh! - although I disagree that he was the problem. Sneed pick the players, in spite of coaches input, salary cap and al.

But, I digress: you and all of us wanted someone to help McVay. You and most talked about replacing age and resume with youth, fire, and adaptive schemes on D.

Well, seems like Los Ramos nailed all of that. Of course, time will tell. But, me thinks 2020 is going to be a dominant year - depending on personnel moves, most certainly.

And Dick, I am with you on this. I also think these were bold and wise moves. By a coach not afraid to quasi admit he needed help and the team needs a reboot and infusion of fire and ingenuity.

I'd say we may have the youngest trio of coaches in the HC, DC and OC positions. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

On O'Connell, I like the fact Gruden promoted his OC Matt Cavanaugh to "senior offensive assistant" when he made O'Connell OC for 2019. He worked with some pretty keen offensive minds....Chip Kelly, John DiFilippo (who was headed for high places before Zimmer fired him in week 14 of the 2018 season), Jay Gruden and now Sean McVay. He was supposedly Josh McDaniels' OC of choice if he got a head coaching gig for next season. What's not to like?

Staley has worked his way up the ladder. I think his is certainly the more important job of the two. He'll actually be in charge of prep as well as game day playcalling. He's worked under Fangio the last 3 years but he's got an extensive NCAA resume at the lower levels where coaching might be a bit harder, working with athletes who weren't good enough to play for FBS schools. He was defensive coordinator for Everett Withers (Jets DB coach) at James Madison and they went to the FCS playoffs. Withers was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year.

In 2016, Staley helped John Carroll finish third in the nation in total defense (218.0), fourth in scoring defense (12.6 ppg) and seventh in passing defense (139.7 ypg) while earning National Coordinator of the Year honors in Division III. He was named Co-Assistant Coach of the Year in the Ohio Athletic Conference in 2013 when John Carroll ranked third nationally in pass defense efficiency.

So, this is a promising reload for McVay and the Rams.

The McVay factor. If O'Connell was linked to several teams and McDaniels first choice, he probably coulda had his pick. Yet, he chose McVay knowing that McVay will be calling plays. I'm guessing he did that because he saw how many assistants under McVay are coveted by other teams. Or anyone remotely linked to McVay. O'Connell knows this could be a springboard to bigger things for him.

Meanwhile, should we lose another assistant down the road to a promotion it won't change the offense a bit. Its McVay's offense. And he ain't going nowhere.

I like the OC hire, another young up and coming mind with good overall experience.

The defensive coordinator? I have no idea. He is young and worked under a great defensive coach in Vic F. My main concern with him is.... can he get the respect and lead players such as AD etc., can he command a room.

Why is nobody mentioning Snead?

Probably because head coaches typically pick their staffs. Snead is probably involved in the admin/salary aspect.

If Snead cannot and/or will not make the offers he needs to, then the deals don't happen. I know McVay walks on water, but Snead has to get him there and help him on the other side.

We all know there is no coaching salary cap so as a franchise moving into a brand new state-of-the-art complex, two years removed from the Superbowl, with one of the richest owners in the league.....I don't think they're going to lowball any coaches McVay wants to bring on board.
