As Rams lose to Cardinals, St. Louis football fans stay away in droves

Football's tenuous hold on St. Louis was evident Sunday when the Rams played the Cardinals before the fewest home fans of the season.

Teams officials said 51,115 tickets were distributed for the game, which the Rams lost 27-3 to the team that once called St. Louis its home.

Capacity at the Edwards Jones Dome is 66,000. Despite the team's distribution total, media observers said the stadium was about half-full.

It was the Rams' fifth consecutive loss, and they are now 4-8.

With reports flying about team owner Stan Kroenke's plan to build a stadium in Los Angeles, which likely would mean the team's return to that city after 20 years in St. Louis, fans appear to have given up on the NFL team. Things were similar nearly 30 years ago, when the Cardinals were bad and would flee for Arizona in 1988.

The Rams rank 31st in attendance this season.

In case you were wondering, it was partly cloudy with seasonable temperatures in the 50s in St. Louis on Sunday.

I'd say that crowd is more like 18-20,000.

Would it be considered ironic that all the empty seats showing through are Cardinal Red?

Everything else aside, the CVC should have long ago spent the money to put in blue and gold seats. Yeah, they'd have to just eat the cost of all the red seats but, c'mon!

What just makes me shake my head is when I hear Pro-St louis folks say the abscence is a good thing, that it shows Kroenke something.
Gimme a break. Its been an utter embarassment to see the empty stadium week after week. For all the talk of how St Louis loves the Rams, how about showing up to a god damned game??

Tremendous market, sure the PSL sales will make Kroenke excited.

So that's why the Rams have been so bad.
