Here are the options that I see...

The way I see it, there are 5 major options for what happens in LA in 2016...

Most likely options (in no particular order):
1. Inglewood gets approved with Kroenke and Spanos partnering and they both move to LA in 2016. Davis does whatever, who cares.
2. Inglewood gets approved, Rams go to LA in 2016 alone. Who cares what Spanos and Davis do after that.
3. Carson gets approved, Stan gets stuck in STL and either goes year to year in the dome until he moves somewhere else or the Rams end up in a new stadium in STL one way or another.

Moderately unlikely (since it appears the NFL really wants to get this thing done soon)
4. Decision gets delayed another year.

Most unlikely (don't see Davis getting in over Spanos)
5. Inglewood gets approved with Kroenke and Davis partnering. Spanos does whatever, who cares.

This is what everyone has been laboring over for the past year or so. I keep hearing that there may be surprises at the big meeting, but what else could there be. Anyone see any other reasonable options?

Even more unlikely
6. No one moves at all.

#2 would be my preferred outcome. However the 2nd part, I see the option of Spanos still being in play with the option to move to LA later.
He'd pay the relocation fee to ESK to basically pay ESK for half the construction costs and where Spanos would get 1/2 the game day revenue as ESK offered. The NFL might not like that since Spanos' fee would go to them, but they also don't have to pay the G4. It's good for their bestus buddy Dean since he essentially doesn't have to pay to relocate like ESK did and which Spanos cant really afford. ESK get's his head start and San Diego get's one last chance to get the deal done there. ESK's $$ get's diverted to Oakland to get something done there.

Well, #6 is an extension of #4.

I wonder if there is any chance they approve Inglewood and Carson and only let Rams and Chargers move.

I'm cool with #1 but I'm still sticking to my prediction and that's Rams only and Stan and that NFL help Spanos and Davis get their own stadium in their respected markets.

I agree.

CoC will get an LA expanion team within a few years that will share the stadium

When i started this site a little over 8 months ago i was all but certain the Rams to Inglewood was a done deal and everything else was bluff and kabuki.

Now, though i still find it hard to believe, it seems Spanos really does want L.A. I agreed with Jeric Griffin from Rant Sports (who we did a Q&A with) that it would be franchise suicide for the Chargers to leave San Diego. Spanos has had years to take L.A., he had Farmer's field (or was the parking not to his liking?) Maybe this is Spanos trying to stop Kroenke whatever it takes, but his threats now seem probably real to me.

So that's changed.

But one thing hasn't: Stan holds all the cards. He's the 2nd richest owner in the NFL, he owns the Rams, he owns Inglewood. Who is going to tell him he can't move his team into his stadium? In the end, i just can't see the NFL telling him no.

But we'll all see soon enough...

Inglewood seems like a done deal to me. Kroenke can afford the relocation fee, has gone through the finance committee and satisfied his cross ownership issues. Also the only guy who can start building within the next couple of weeks or months. I think the open letter to the committee is open leverage that the Chargers and Raiders can use while they still figure out the best deals possible in their markets. I could see the Chargers in LA in 2018 as the second team in Inglewood. They would break in the stadium together, but Kroenke and the Rams would get the LA head start in the coliseum for 2 years. I think they want 2 teams for the TV deal. Fox and CBS will want their equal cut just like the owners.

That makes sense to me.

As I have said before, discussions I have had with some Wall Street people who do Mergers and Acquisitions on a high level for a living indicated that it would be Kroenke and Spanos all along. They told me this well before Kroenke wrote the letter and even predicted he would make that concession.

They said STL is dead. Davis is irrelevant. And Iger is window dressing.

From a totally unbiased, pure business standpoint, it's a 2 team solution. It makes the most money for the NFL. Anyway, that's what I was told.

IMO, the reason there are some owners on Spanos side is "Fear" fear that in the future they won't have the Cash that Kroenke has to move forward. Guys like Jerry Richardson, Clark Hunt and Dan Rooney for example are part of the old guard and their team is their major revenue stream currently. Let's be honest they are not starving, but they are not in Kroenke's league financially few are and the reason they might be in Spanos corner is to protect their own interest long term.

In the end I concur with many one would surmise to follow the money and that usually wins and for the Rams sake I hope so because my fear would be if they keep ESK in St. Louis, he will wait to purchase the Broncos and then sell the Rams to somebody with much less to offer and our team will be stuck in a city of no growth and with an owner with less means to move them forward and the sad part is the "Pro St. Louis" people would embrace that scenario which again showcases they can't see the forest for the trees.

I think that view plays into the battle between the old guard and the wall street owners. I don't think the old guard who may fear Kroenke will get the 24 votes they need to squash him. So the best they can do is keep the stalemate and delay for another year and that helps Kroenke. I do think it's a valid concern and I also think there is a battle going on internally among the old guard and the wall street owners.

Kroenke made the concession of partnering with another owner in order to win over the owners on the fence. He's never getting the core of the old guard. All Kroenke is looking for now is a critical mass of owners, maybe 18 or more.
