Chris Miller was the starting QB when I became Rams fan, that was the Rams first season in St. Louis.

Miller didn't live up to his preseason hype. The guy that the Rams drafted to replace him wasn't any better.

I was really into fantasy football back then. in 1998 I had Trent Green as my starting QB and he had an awesome season with Washington, then I was totally stoked after 1998 when the Rams signed Trent Green and Green's QB coach (Mike Martz), then the Rams drafted some kid named Tory Holt and traded for Marshall Faulk. I put Kurt Warner as my starting QB just prior to game 1 of the 1999 season.

Joe Pendleton. Grew up in Canada behind a radio tower. Had a crappy little radio but could get stations all over the States. All I ever knew was the CFL. Anyhoo, came across a game between rams and Falcons . Year later, watched the movie "Heaven Can Wait". Connected the dots and became a Rams fan for life that day. Funny how they played Steelers in Superbowl. Was grounded after the game cause I threw a softball at TV due to Nolan Cromwell's dropped Int. Dad and I laugh about it now....not so funny back then !

Roman Gabriel. Not sure exactly what year it was but it was the season where they went 11-1-2. Sometime in the late 60's. I remember going into the last game at 10-1-2 while the Colts were 11-0-2. The winner takes the division. Rams routed the Colts 34-10. I can still picture Gabriel connecting with Jack Snow. Rams ended up going to frigid Minnesota even though they had the best record. Lost that one in the cold.

That was 1967. One of those ties was against the Colts in Baltimore early in the season. The headline in Sports illustrated that week was “A pair fit to be tied”. A quote from Deacon Jones after that game ( if memory serves) was “a tie is like kissing your sister”. Way back before #metoo.

After the Rams trounced the Colts in LA to win the Coastal division, (That’s what it was called back then for a couple of years), Johnny U said after the game “I ate grass for 60 minutes”.

1967 was a magical season that ended in disappointment in Green Bay against Lombardi's Packers, even though the Packers only won 9 games that year. It was Lombardi's last season in GB. Their season was made famous in Jerry Kramer's book “Instant Replay”. The week after the Packers beat the Rams they beat the Cowboys in the historic Ice Bowl. If we had beaten the Packers again that season (we beat them in LA the week before the final Colts game on a blocked punt and a late TD from Gabe to Bernie Casey), then the Ice Bowl never happens and we play the Cowboys in LA instead.

The Rams were a huge deal in LA in 1967. All of Hollywood turned out to see them. They were at least as big as the Dodgers since they had a more established fan base, and much bigger than the Lakers. It was so long ago, another world back then, only a few of us left to remember it in detail or care to.

Anyway, I remember it as if it were yesterday. It’s in my blood.
