On the eve of a key NFL owners meeting in Dallas, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon met with Rams owner Stan Kroenke on Monday at Rams Park, multiple sources told the Post-Dispatch.

Dave Peacock, co-chair of the St. Louis stadium task force, also was at Rams Park on Monday, although it's not believed that Peacock took part in the meeting.

Kroenke was in attendance last month in New York when the task force made its presentation to three NFL committees. But Monday's get-together may be the first time that Kroenke and Nixon have met face-to-face on anything related to relocation to Los Angeles or the St. Louis stadium project.

Specifics of the meeting were uncertain, but according to a source, Kroenke wanted to make sure he had a "complete understanding of things."

That perhaps was a reference to Kroenke wanting to know the current status of the St. Louis stadium plan, and the financing of the stadium, in advance of the league meetings.

I'm sure the STL sheep are getting excited. This just gives him more proof that's he's met with any negotiated in good faith with STL before the most important owners meeting.

Doesn't the NFL require before a owner leaves he has to have some kind of town hall meeting and explain to the fan base how the city does not work for him. Does anyone know if step one of that is first meeting with local officials and laying all the cards on the table and then setting up the required goodbye town hall meeting with said officials?

Was that final step a public town hall meeting or just a public announcement, like in the paper?

Not sure where I read that info listed out.

The NFL did the townhalls already... They're supposed to be team led, but the NFL did them instead... Putting a full page ad in the newspaper is another requirement, likely after the vote.

I would to if I was StL, but not knowing what the conversation is about I would remain circumspect until it is made public. Cause as far we know Stan could be doing this solely so he can stand before fellow owners and say ok I have met all requirements for a relocate I have exhausted all measures and no deal can be struck.
