Disney had a great idea back in the 50's. Since then it has lost some of it's soul to a certain degree. It costs way to much money to enjoy the happiest place on earth. If things are slipping on Iger's watch, that certainly is unfortunate timing for him and Spanos. It seemed inevitable..

Iger's power comes more from his connections and ability to set things up between Spanos and various powerful people in LA.

Of course, that's nothing that Kroenke cannot do as well, Iger just has those connections now.

The difficulty of doing business in LA "getting behind the Hollywood wall" is something I know all too well. I'm sure Demoff knows a few folks here too.

Seems like the buzz of the Iger involvement is already over. Inglewood just has so much momentum built up quietly. You have infrastucture improvements and actualy activity on site. You also get regular updates from the Mayor on radio each month. With Carson there is nothing but rhetoric. No actual physical movement towards a stadium has been made. It makes sense too because they are still feeling out SD and Oakland markets. Meanwhile Kroenke hasn't said jack to STL since arbitration. Also the STL crowds are terrible, it's not sustainable another year IMO. LA Rams happens in 2 months reading the tea leaves everyone has compiled to date IMO.

Yea once again on Bloomberg this morn they were mentioning the Disney share price slide. Interesting to listen to but not interesting enough for me to commit any of my money to go long on any kind of dip. An I sure would not take the short right now and chance getting caught in a pinch and a margin call when the new Star Wars comes out in a matter of weeks and any good news from a successful box open could have traders and investors sending the price back up from buying the news.

I have not really dug into Iger so I have no idea if he just wants to step down or if the board has informed him ahead of time they are gonna be seeking a new direction in 2018. As I have said elsewhere I think the real interesting part of this is Iger in 2018 and beyond. Right now Spanos is overpaying for him and looking to buy some hype and some push from branding his name. Problem is he is buying a hobbyist as his (Iger) first duty and time priority he has stated will be Disney.

So Spanos is looking to borrow close to 2 billion dollars to secure his future and to spearhead all this to lock up his future he goes and grabs a guy who can only be a project manager as a hobby or part time. So Iger today is being overpaid and any real value of what he can and will do will be 2018 when he can devout full time to the project. So in my opinion is just another sign of Dean is desperate and has no real plan and just keeps throwing money around hoping he can buy the right name to give him the juice and the push to secure his future, so for me personally is just no way I would spend today's money and energy trying to shape tomorrow. So as we have already beat home the point numerous times is just another example of the decisions a man who inherited his wealth makes compared to the man who built his.

Iger has become a demigod to the pro St. Louis and Carson folk, who think this guy's name has sent shock waves through the league. I don't buy it. Okay, he's the CEO at Disney and has a contingency deal based on Carson coming to fruition. He's Mr. Entertainment and knows LA, so somehow this will make Carson something so amazing, fans will show up blindly and give their credit cards to anyone who asks for it, including corporations. Sure. Also, although he's worth 100 million, it's very little compared to the heavy hitters involved with Inglewood or Goldman Sachs.

I remember when Magic Johnson became the mouthpiece to the Dodgers' ownership group. He had the eye on all things LA and was tied to the community. When Guggenheim was bidding on the Dodgers, people started drooling about Magic Johnson being associated. In actuality, he doesn't make any decisions because he doesn't cut the fattest checks. I believe he has done very little as a fringe, minority owner of the Dodgers besides tweeting a lot (but somehow never about the TV fiasco). Magic will get a nice ROI and probably get the hell out soon.

From an investment standpoint, this dip in Disney valuations could be the set up for a spike in the value after Star Wars releases next week. It could be the biggest movie release in history. The revenue could be substantial and the marketing side would get a boost from little Chewbacca doll sales.

If he sells, I hope he gets a group together and buys the Lakers. The real Buss has left the station. And that Dodger TV deal is obscene for the Dodgers fan. This is the last of Vinny and we are missing it which frosts me.

The NFL Disneyland really peeks my interest as I have heard it mentioned in print, but no real specifics. If they plan to model some kind of amusement park or really any kind of Disney model for the NFL. I would think that would be a no go. No way Disney is gonna allow direct competition in the same city of LA as them. I am sure somewhere in Iger's contract when he took the job is some kind of none compete clause that will be enforceable after he leaves and for how many years it would be enforce I have no clue. However I don't see Disney having any of their revenues siphoned of from a former executive using any of their business model in the self same very town as them. So this might be more of a pipe dream than a reality if they use Iger as I am sure Disney protected itself somehow legally when he took the job and no way they are gonna wave the right to litigate so a former executive can help another business siphon off any of their revenue in LA.

Legends, Inglewood was coined "NFL Disneyland" not Carson. City of Champs was/is to be a NFL themed development housing the NFLN, a 6000 seat open air venue. west coast HOF type facility,, etc. NO rides or anything that would compete with the Happiest Place in Anaheim.
