Appears to be true, hopefully we'll get more details soon.. At least it doesn't appear to be life threatening at this time.

Looks like he and a cousin were in a car with 2 younger relatives and a drive by happened and Sted and his cousin shielded the two kids from the bullets. Sted took 2 to the head and is believed to be non critical. His cousin took 3 to the head and is in icu and surgery atm. The Rams said they'll make a statement when they get more facts but have talked to Sted.

Yup that's true. It's so sad. Hopefully they all fully recover.

Oh man. What was he doing in Miami?
Hope this ends well for every one and they catch the perps who'd shoot a kid.

That's where he's from and I assume he still lives there. Of course he's there because he's in the middle of a four game suspension. Thankfully, it looks like he's going to survive.

Rams' Bailey is shot, in critical condition

Jim Thomas

Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was shot Tuesday night, team officials confirmed. The shooting apparently took place in Miami; Bailey is a native of Miramar, Fla., a city in Broward County.

Rams officials believe Bailey is OK. A team source says it is believed that Bailey will undergo surgery Wednesday.

“We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening,’’ the Rams said in a statement released last Tuesday night. “We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more.”

There were unconfirmed reports late Tuesday night that Bailey had been shot in the head. Twitter was filled with words of prayer and concern from Rams teammates as well as players throughout the NFL.

The third-year player from West Virginia University currently is serving a four-game suspension for violating NFL policy on substance abuse. Last season, Bailey served a two-game suspension for violating league policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Bailey, 25, had 12 catches for 183 yards and a touchdown this season before the suspension as the team’s third wide receiver. He drew national attention, and a fine from the league, when he fell to the ground in the end zone to celebrate an 18-yard touchdown reception against Arizona.

Bailey used the football as a pillow as if taking a nap, then got up after a few seconds. Using the ball as a prop in TD celebrations is against NFL rules, thus the fine. Bailey said after that game that the “nap” was a signal that opposing defenses shouldn’t go to sleep on him.

He had served two of the four games of the suspension before the shooting and is eligible to return for the team’s Dec. 13 game, against Detroit.
