Cool.
Hey Dick,
i know you know the SD stuff better than any of us and one thing that's constantly puzzled me is: What does Spanos really want? What's his end game?
Is it simply that he's always wanted L.A. and when Kroenke made his move on Inglewood Spanos couldn't take his time anymore? Is there more to it?
What is his deal?

I'll give this guy credit for not lumping PSL sales with the county and city, like they do in Missouri. Throw in a couple hundred million from Rams' relocation fees, and the offer is quite decent.

This is legit good news. No one could deny SD is actually trying to get a stadium deal done this time around.
It's funny the LA leverage thing is working again.

He went far down the road, from what I've been told, on Farmers, but they were just too far apart on the $$ and size of purchase of part of team to Anschutz.
Yes.. Kroenke beat him to the punch and he's been scrambling since.
So what happens if The Chargers and Raiders move to Carson and another team moves to San Diego?
Is that a win for Spanos? I suppose the 2nd team in L.A. is probably worth more than the only team in SD (if the Clippers are any indication) but still seems like possible franchise suicide if the cards fall a certain way...

San Diego is actually a good market, unlike St. Louis. A super bowl market with a new stadium, unlike St. Louis. A beautiful city, unlike St. Louis. If this vote comes to fruition and they also get a nice chunk of change from relo fees, it's a good deal. Definitely a deal an outside owner would be more apt to take rather than the St. Louis one.

Spanos would be a fool to actually move to LA. Charger fan base is in SD. Maybe chargers will sell out the first year due to NFL being new to LA after 20 years but that will wear off, there aren't that many Charger fans in LA, and after pissing off the die hards in SD, they aren't going to drive 130 miles to watch a game.
I've thought from the beginning of this relocation saga that if a stadium get built in Inglewood, Rams will move from St Louis and Radiers will end up 2nd team a year or two later. Nothing is ever going to get built in Oakland.
