1993 - emmitt smith held out , didn't report to camp, didn't play in any preseason games, didn't practice at all, missed the first two regular season games, then finally got the deal he wanted... the cowboys started 0-2 without smith, and finished 12-2 with him, won the super bowl, as smith booked the highest yards per carry average of his career and earned all-pro / pro-bowl honors... i'm guessing donald will hit the ground running as well once this thing finally gets done.

I think he is already on the "Reserved-did not report" list. this basically means that the team doesn't have to count him against the 53 active players ... and that they can use their own judgement if they want to levy fines against him for not reporting. Other than that, he only needs the approval from the commish to be taken off the list .... which is virtually automatic given his good behavior.

In the mean time, from a legal standpoint (at this given time), he has still upheld his end of the contract.
