POST #93 I turned on this year's game at 6:00 and turned it off after the clock ticked to 0:00. During halftime I had nachos and wings. I'm not a big "pre-game" nut in the first place, especially the networks. Can't stand Bradshaw or Esiason so if I'm bored and antsy for football on any particular Sunday, I'll watch NFL Network pregame. When it's a Rams Superbowl, I'll watch some of the pregame but I'll record it so I can go back if something cool or controversial happens. But like was stated earlier in the thread, the NFL needs to stop with the social statements and their lame attempts to pander to everything and everybody. Get your own house in order. Superbowl halftime has been hyped so much it's a guaranteed letdown with rare exception. I don't even attempt to watch anymore. I think the last one I watched was Prince and that was because I was in a Ft. Lauderdale bar waiting to board a cruise ship. I like the old days when the halftime of the Superbowl was the same length as the halftime of regular season and playoff games. Now it's double. What would be a nice surprise is if they had the marching band of the team that wins the NCAA National Championship. Or drumline contests. But the halftime show is not for entertaining football fans. It's for increasing the Nielson ratings. Just like the hype over Superbowl commercials (which are usually funny). Anything to increase viewership, even if the folks who watch for the halftime show or commercials may only watch the game peripherally, if at all.And the celebrities who are so excited to perform at the halftime show. Seemed like for a while they were all trying to out-do Janet Jackson's 'wardrobe malfunction'. I had absolutely no interest in watching the two 40+ year olds showing their asses last year. Way back, when I watched halftime, I enjoyed shows like Phil Collins, U2, the Blues Brothers but it's far too commercial anymore. They need to tone it down and make the GAME be played under the same parameters as all the games that got to that point. But I'm an old timer.....I liked the old rules when you could hit a WR anywhere on the field until the ball was in the air, when there was no such thing as a "defenseless player" or roughing the QB by tackling him by the legs and a horse collar was something you saw on a farm. Up with football!!! Been following the horns since the Coliseum had a Roman playing there. According to website DownDetector.com, reports of problems with CBS All Access spiked around 6:30 p.m. ET, just as the game began, then began to taper off within the next 10 minutes. DownDetector recorded 25,100 complaints at 6:27 p.m.Roku users and desktop users were among those experiencing difficulties. As the volume of viewers increased dramatically around kick off, many viewers found themselves unable to join the stream. Users who were already watching CBS’ live stream experienced no service interruptions. The technical issue was resolved once the game was underway. The outage came as ViacomCBS was attempting to use the Super Bowl as a platform to promote the upcoming rebranding of All Access, which launched in 2014, as Paramount Plus. During the first hour of the game, CBS aired a promo for the Paramount Plus relaunch featuring Super Bowl announcers Jim Nantz and Tony Romo as well as Ethan Peck as Miser Spock from the upcoming “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.” Additional ads featured Patrick Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Sonequa Martin-Green and Norah O’Donnell. The Paramount Plus rebrand is scheduled to go into effect March 4.Though the Super Bowl airs on broadcast television, the streaming audience for the annual NFL championship is significant. Last year’s game, according to Fox Sports, averaged 3.4 million digital viewers per minute, up from 2.1 million the year prior. by Gareth 4 years 4 months ago Total posts: 1241 Joined: Mar 30 2015 LA Coliseum Pro Bowl The Future of the NFL on TV.... POST #95 Again: stuff like this is good for fans and ensures that the Super Bowl won't get moved to a streaming service or PPV.https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/cbs-al ... 234902915/CBS All Access Crashes as Super Bowl Kicks OffViewers looking to stream the Super Bowl took a blindside hit Sunday. As the Kansas City Chiefs kicked off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday in Tampa, ViacomCBS’ streaming app, CBS All Access, experienced technical issues and outages for customers. POST #96 I really don’t get all the whining about the commercials. Do you care about the commercials during the regular season? I guess it’s because there’s so much hype about it that people expect greatness and then feel let down. Big deal. I think people just like to find something to complain about. A few artists that have been offered the gig have turned them down because they know it’s a no win situation. by AvengerRam 4 years 4 months ago Total posts: 8921 Joined: Oct 03 2017 Lake Mary, Florida Hall of Fame The Future of the NFL on TV.... I get that the intent was to broaden the appeal of the telecast to bring in people who are not football fans, but its gone overboard, in my opinion. Part of it is the over-the-top virtue signalling and pandering. I mean, really... a heartstring-pulling dramatization of the adoption of paraplegic girl from Siberia who grows up to be an Olympian... to sell... Toyotas?
