It's all good. I'm not "defending Tutu" as much as I'm defending the parameters for judgement. 10 snaps in 2021. That isn't a helluva lot. 0 targets. Yeah he was injured halfway through but I'd submit it had nothing to do with his size or stature. Freakish injury.

On his social media posts. There are guys right here, on this forum, who if you question their opinion, take it as a major affront to their knowledge, tenure or manhood. Some of what they post is exponetially worse than Atwells social media comments. And they're adults. 50 or 60 something football fans. So you're going to take exception to some 20-something's social media posts in reference to the lambasting he's taken by much of Ramsnation since the draft, beginning immediately with his selection?

I remember being young. I remember doing stupid shit. I like his reaction. I like that he's "talking shit" and putting the pressure squarely on his own shoulders. Because agree with me or not, he's got a legitmate reason to feel that way. Like I said, for some, he will never do enough and thats got to be a sorry ass place to be. This is supposed to be the highlight of his football career to date, and instead he sucks because he took 10 offensive snaps, was injured instead of scoring a couple touchdowns.

Victim? No he's getting paid quite well so he's not a victim other than being judged harshly because he wasn't a 6'3" offensive lineman. I am rooting for him (as you undoubtedly are) and if he suceeds it will be interesting to see how "that crowd" reacts.

Why are posters complaining about Tutu not getting any playing time,

First off, McVay had his set of starting WR, Kupp, Woods, and VJ,

Even DJax didn't get that many looks, so how can you expect Tutu to get snaps?

Then when Woods got injured, OBJ took his place. at the same time Tutu got injured.

Tutu was drafted for the future, and not for 2021 as a WR,

His playing time was on ST, while learning behind our WR core.

In the beginning of this season, most likely, he'll be listed fourth on the depth chart.

If we sign OBJ at the end of this season,

Then Tutu will most likely drop down to the fifth position on the depth chart.

He'll be fighting for time with VJ.

.....That seems to be the problem with the selection (besides the oft-stated obvious). It was a 2nd round pick and a 2nd round pick should be a starter. I agree.....on the Jets. Or Jags. But on those teams the 3rd, 4th and 5th round guys need to be starters too.

What were our weakest positions entering the draft? ILB? CB? They took the playmaker first which wasn't such a big need but for the future, got the ILB next and then the CB, after taking a DL (another position not of huge need). The ILB started in year 1. The CB was a starter before his season ended.

And guess what? They won the Superbowl! But they sure fooked up didn't they? Or was it, 'they only won the SB because the traded for a HOFer'?

No, I can't help but think this was a bad pick for one reason and one reason only. It wasn't because he wasn't a starter. It wasn't because he was injured. It was because they took 'the wrong guy'. Those other things only bolstered that argument.

Second-Year Receiver Named Rams' Surprise Offseason Standout

After signing established veteran Allen Robinson II to pair with superstar Cooper Kupp and blossoming third-year pro Van Jefferson, the Los Angeles Rams' receiver room is one of the deepest in the league.

Tutu Atwell, the Rams' second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, is a notable name missing from that trio of wideouts. However, if Atwell's performance this offseason is any indication, he's well on his way to making the group a quartet.

According to ESPN, Atwell has been the Rams' surprise offseason standout.

The 2021 second-round pick's improvement this spring was pointed out by both quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp during minicamp. Stafford said he's noticed that "everything" Atwell does "seems to be that much more intentional." Atwell played 10 offensive snaps last season but had a role on special teams before he injured his shoulder and was placed on injured reserve in November. The Rams' top three receivers (Kupp, Allen Robinson II and Van Jefferson) are set to start the season, but Atwell could play a role in 2022. - ESPN's Sarah Barshop

While Atwell's rookie season didn't provide the on-field production neither he nor the Rams expected, it was a valuable learning experience for the 22-year-old.

Rams receivers coach Eric Yarber said that Atwell had to learn how to "prepare like a pro." The speedy Atwell had several strong mentors in that category, including Kupp and the since-traded Robert Woods.

“He’s progressing very, very well mentally and physically," Yarber said. "The game has slowed down for him. He knows his plays like the back of his hand. It’s almost like he took things for granted (last year). But now, he saw how Cooper and Robert Woods prepared and how it translated to on-the-field (success). I was going to suggest he do that anyway, but he did it before I even suggested it. That says a lot about how he’s serious about this and he wants to be a good pro.”

Moving forward, the former Louisville Cardinal is sure to have an impact on special teams, but the Rams didn't draft Atwell in the second round one year ago just to be a special teamer.

With Atwell's speed and Stafford's ability to push the ball downfield, there's serious potential for Atwell to create explosive plays for the Rams' offense. As he enters year two, look for Atwell to come into his own and force defenses to respect his field-stretching ability.

As Atwell will likely be one of the few "name" players who we'll see in preseason, those game could be something of a barometer. He should stand out in those games against less than elite talent. If he doesn't, that could be a concern.

But then again, he will be playing with less than elite talent at the QB position for the RAMs.

With Tutu speed, our back up QBs doesnt have the arm talent as Staff to get the ball to Tutu in a timely manner.

I remember during those last pre-season games,

it seemed like the balls that were throw to Tutu,

Perkins throws seemed to be late, his throws weren't quick enough.

Here is Tutu telling Perkins to get the ball out faster, (start at the .50sec and the 2:30min mark)

Then to add, McVay will only call basic plays during the pre-season.

So we are not going to see Tutu get scheme plays to get the balls out in open spaces.

He didn't exactly "stand out" last preseason either AR. In fact, he looked very average against the "scrubs" from the other teams who buy the way were playing very vanilla defenses. He didn't even have one big play...not one...and he was HEAVILY featured so he had a TON of chances. He didn't flash anything. He wasn't "running past" anyone and seemed to get dinged after each hit! IMO, that IS a concern and until he shows us otherwise...he is what he is.

I am not sure he could even "stand out" in the USFL let alone the NFL. :roll2:

IMO, Tutu was slower and smaller than advertised and looked like a "boy amongst men". He's not a #1, 2 or 3 WR but but he might be a #4 WR on a bad team that needs WR's. :lol2:

Having said that, what do I know? i am just a "MF'ing clown!"! :lol2:

Yeah... he's not slow.

We'll see how he does.

No, not "slow" per se just slower than I was expecting AR. 4-3 speed is usually pretty evident on the field.

Sometimes "straight line" track speed doesn't transfer to the NFL very well. There have been plenty of legit 4-3 guys that just weren't very good on the field for whatever reasons.

If Tutu can be our legit deep threat he could be just what we need! I hope all the off season praise is true and Tutu turns out to be the player we all want him to be!
