Kevin Demoff joined Los Ramos in 2009, same year as Steve LittleNapoleon Spagnuolo.
Our Rams IIRC went 13-35 over the 3 Demoff-Spags seasons of 2009-11...with the BIG NEWS of that era being us landing the Last Emperor First Pick Overall BatShit-Crazy Salary in the person of Sam Most$$/NFLWinEverQB Bradford!! :( :arrow2: :roll2:

So let's summarize shall we? Under Demoff's first 3 years as a bigshot Rams Exec, our Rams sucked. Not just sucked, BUT DETROIT LIONS//CINCINNATI BUNGLES SUCKED!!! :oops2:

Now, there is no question, that Jeff Fisher had his flaws with "Offensive Expertise/Vision".....BUT, he did instill some toughness and swagger on D and on STs. I likened the Fisher Ram years to an old clip I saw of a sweaty Dick Butkus saying:

"When you play the Bears, we might not BEAT YOU on the scoreboard.....BUT YOU BETTER COME (fooking) PREPARED!!!" .....or words to that effect.

Besides Kroenke hiring Fisher, a NFL HC who actually had experience MOVING a Franchise to a new city.....twice!!.......Stan also let Fisher assist into the hiring process of the new Rams GM, Les Snead....which hire has been very good for Ram Fortunes.

In 2016, jettisoning Jeff FratHouseRules! Fisher and retaining Les DonKlostermanClone Snead was the right move for Los Ramos.....but was that Kevin Demoff's call?.....or Enos Stan Kroenke's call??!! I suspect it was Kroenke, but I have no proof.

Some Demoff Questions:
Prior to McVay's arrival, did Kevin Demoff NFL Football Success Record amount to anything more than a pile of shit? IMO it did not. It was a pile of shit.

Did Kevin Demoff's dad, NFL Player Agent Marvin Demoff, backdoor his Ivy League AND INEXPERIENCED kid into the hallways of NFL Management Elites? IMO...Yup, absolutely!

Does the fact that Kevin Demoff lied thru his teeth to the good folks in St.Louis about Kroenke's Plan to move Los Ramos back to LA, make him a bad person?
IMO this is a moral question balancing on "Strict Virtues/Integrity" versus "EndsJustifyingTheMeans"....
I mean, Colin Powell 100% lied to the UN about Saddam Hussein having WMD, right? Should we always think of Colin Powell as a liar? Not to me.
FDR told a bunch of whoppers trying to get an Isolationist America into WWII on the side of Britain to defeat European Fascism and Japanese Military Imperialism right? Should FDR always be thought of as "a liar." FDR's "lies" IMO helped make the Planet a better place, no?

To me, Kevin Demoff is a child of the Privileged Class who ended up working for the NFL's richest owner, Kroenke, and lucking into McSnead. In short, I think Kevin TheLittlePischer Demoff has more luck than genius....JMO. :idea2:

But I am also honest enough to admit this......
if Demoff's lies helped to move my Rams back to Los Angeles.....then put me in the EndsJustifyTheMeans camp! :| :arrow2: :idea2:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

BTW, veering this thread into a Demoff character analysis is kinda hyjacking it, I guess.
BUT...
it is preferable IMO to the Hammer&Tongs Fest of Rehashing Inaccurate Ram Predictions from 2017, no?

I know I am not being particularly civil in my views about Demoff here, but he's a public figure, so he's used to it....and moreover he is compensated well for enduring fan critiques. 8-)

When we go after each other here at RFU though, it gets personal.
I am still pizzed (and sad) that SWADude and dieterbrock left us! :(

Hey, Holy Thursday is coming up! Noble thoughts and Happy Easter to all of Ramsnation! :idea2:

I don’t have a particular opinion of Demoff one way or another, but I find it amusing when fans condemn him for “lying” to them. NFL teams are billion dollar corporations. We are consumers. Despite what some fans think, we are not entitled to full disclosure of the team’s plans just because we support them on the field. Sometimes, things need to be kept under wraps or, in some cases, a bit of misdirection is in order. To get mad at someone like Demoff - who is merely a mouthpiece doing his job - is silly.

One thing I saw on the 1st Hard Knocks (Goff's rookie year) always bothered me. It was a quick shot of Goff in the QB's room. He was supposed to be studying but he was on his phone. The then QB coach Weinke walks in the room and Goff quickly puts his down and acts like he is studying. That always stuck out to me. Knowing that Goff wasn't really putting in the work. He thought he could skate by with doing the minimum. In the end I really think he took the position for granted. Anyways let see what Stafford can do.

His job title is "Chief Operating Officer", just below Kroenke. So if Silent Stan is as silent as he's purported to be, then Demoff simply espouses Stan's views.

If Stan tells Demoff, "hey, I've got this primo piece of land in So. Cal and we're in the process of finalizing all the necessary paperwork to build a palace there but we don't want to get the cart ahead of the horse. We still need league approval beyond all the So. Cal permits and crap. If shit falls through I don't want the people of St. Louis poisoned anymore on us than they already are now. They have been selling their tickets to fans from the opposition for 5 years now as it is, so they don't want to see Rams football anyway. Tell them whatever they need to hear and let's get out of here!!"

What's Demoff supposed to say? "I have morals Stan!"

We could imagine Stan's response. "Fine, then take your morals and become an agent like your father".

He's certainly privileged. He's certainly working for the richest owner. He certainly has some luck. But he's also good at managing a cap. We've been eating money like Orson Welles at an all you can eat buffet. And we're still good. In fact I just read in USA Today, we're the favorites to win the NFC West.

But beyond that, how in the hell can you put the team record on the COO? That's on the GM and the HC and the players. Demoff just makes their requests work. It's not his fault Spagnuolo cared more about 4 pillars than 4 quarters. It's not his fault Jeffrey Fisher was attempting to run a 1990's era ground and pound offense 20 years after it was abandoned by most. And Snead and McVay get most of the credit for the last 4 years, not Demoff, except the fact he keeps us running (not in the Jeff Fisher way but the Jeff Bezos way).

As far as lying, so what? If your boss asks you to keep something under your hat, do you go out and tell everybody in the company? Lie. Lie of omission. Not much difference in the end.

Kroenke made Demoff his right hand man and head of football operations when he bought the Rams.

Things have gone pretty well since then.

It's not really about Forrest Lamp.

You completely misunderstood where the Rams were going into 2017, their roster, their FO, their philosophy, their prospects going forward.

And while undervaluing the Rams in the extreme, you overvalued the Chargers.

For you, not taking Forrest Lamp was emblematic of everything that was wrong with the Rams.

It's water under the bridge and we all get stuff wrong but trying to reframe it as "getting a draft pick wrong," isn't really accurate.

max wrote:Snead is a wildman. He has done well drafting without first round picks. But I fear that it will catch up with him. And yes, he is not a true GM. He’s more of a glorified personnel manager. He takes his direction from McVay and then relies of Demoff and Pastoors to manage the money and contracts. He threw Goff under the bus in his presser. Why? Because he was parroting McVay.

I think you might be a little stuck in the 70's.

You don't see a lot of GMs that are clearly the boss of the HC like in the old days. Look at the last 6 SB teams: NE, KC, Rams, TB, SF, none of them have an old school GM/HC model.

We're both big McVay fans. Who do you credit for the hire? It's pretty clear, to me, that Snead and Demoff were a big part of that.

This thread is just dripping with homerism.

I’m done arguing about it. But I will add one thing. I have no doubt that if we didn’t hire McVay, regardless of who gets the credit or if it was simply hitting the lottery, our team would almost certainly suck the past 4 years.

Well, sucking sucks. Hard to argue against if all things had remained the same that things would have been different.
