I have sat on both sides and low, mid and high for rows. The Coli was not designed for watching football and is why no one builds football only stadiums similar in design tot he Coli. There are really only a few sections where viewing is "really good" and by Rams map I would call those 21L to 23L and 8L to 6H. And of those, if you are too close (below row 20) you risk being blocked by people on sideline or equipment, or you can be too high (which really means far from the field and not "up"). That does leave much to select from.I can tell you for certain, the closer you are to the endzones/goal line, the higher you want to be. Trust me!! If you are too low, because the seats "fan out" versus "go up" your depth perception when the ball is on the opposite side will be terrible. Then there is the new Scoreboard that USC put in at the West end a few years ago. If you sit too close to it, it can be VERY loud. Its true the Press Box side is the "shade" side. But there are two shades. Shade that is created from the Press Box structure and then the shade that comes from the sun setting behind the coli walls. Ive been to many 12, 1, 3, and 5pM events and sat on the PB side and was still in the sun for most of the game. But you are not looking into the sun. The only real issue heatwise are the games in Aug and Sept. After that, temp is a non issue. Its just looking into the sun if you are in Sec 18+. But for me, hat+sunglasses have always solved that. I was at the USC/Purdue game about 15 years ago when the temp was insane and Sat opposite PB and survived.I didnt get the seats I "wanted". but I got seats and that was the goal. Seat issues aside, the Coli is loaded with other problems (traffic, parking, access, concessions, restrooms, etc) which is why they wont be there long. I know USC is going to "upgrade", but its a joke and wont make much of a difference in long run.At this point Im just happy the Rams are back in LA and really just want to be in the building. Especially for Dallas pre season and home opener vs Sea.
