So yeah, most fans wouldn't want Martz but that means absolutely nothing to me.

That's fine everyone's entitled to one's opinion, IMO, Martz's body of work since he's left the Rams has not been what I consider would be a good fit for the current team, you feel otherwise. I've never cared what others thought because when it comes to sports I have always marched to the beat of my own drum, but in this case factoring age, history and body of work Martz would not be my choice, that's all.
That's not really the point though. Offering what other team's fans think as evidence to support your opinion is what's in question, not whether or not we share the same opinion of Martz.

It's fine that we don't agree but I do question your reasoning about Martz. Is it really fair to criticize his HC'ing potential by looking at how he's coordinated for other HC's? As far as being a match for the personnel, it's tough for me to imagine him getting any less out of this group than has been done in recent years. I'd sure put my money on him doing more with these guys than Schottenheimer did or Cignetti has done so far.

I think it's possible the game has passed Martz by a little.

I also think it's possible he's a nightmare to deal with.

But i also think it's possible, in fact i think it's probable, that he still has a lot to offer the NFL. I wish he was still coaching...

Fish has always been what he's is, a 500% coach. A few random years he did better than most to achieve that lofty %, which means there were some real duds too.

Looking at the teams he won bigger with, there were only a couple of guys who went to the pro-bowl but his QB, RB and D-line (Kearse) were solid. That sounds familiar doesn't it?

I am an advocate of tough D's, especially up front. Tough mean and spirited nasty guys.
I'm a fan of pounding the rock behind a stout line opening up the play action - long bomb Ferragamo style.

All of this is 'old school' but I like it. And it works,,, as long as you have the solid lines but more so, a solid scrappy QB,,, something the Rams have lacked for a long, long time.

He's a coach who played the game and the players buy into him. That say's a lot about his ability to coach. Possibly being hired because of his ability to move a football team to a new location speaks to his ability to adapt.

If the game has passed by the like's of Fisher, then I'm not sure I like where the game is going. And if our game is going to LA, he's a familiar local face who's game reminds me of many of those old LA Rams teams who were built the same way.

I don't know if the 'new school' game is akin to the Chip Kelly and MM type's of O, but if so, how are those guys doing? This years Rams have attempted 59 passes to 39 runs. There may be reasons Fish is choosing the aerial attack. Could have been the stout running D's we face and or being behind, but it doesn't closely resemble the John Robinson or Ground Chuck styles either.

Who would you guys rather have?

Who is in the now or keeping up? Arians, Kelly? What changes have been made that Fisher has allowed to get passed him?

I'm not saying I believe that all of his moves are the right ones, but who available would be your choice to replace him? And why?

YES!, like:
1. Providing subjects for case studies into the occurrence of CTE in QBs;
2. Emphasizing the decline in O-Line play that some have written about; and
3. Showing the need for a development league for QBs as his QBs make a parade to the IR.

Also, props to Martz for helping a 33 year old Jon Kitna reach Number 4, ALL TIME, for most times sacked in a single season!!! Whoo hooo!!!

Bah, I get that some of the Martz lovers out there pine to have Martz' hot GSOT dripping from their faces and such, different strokes and all . . .

Go Rams!

when I grew up watching tackle football QB's were not coddled like porcelin (sp?) dolls. Now, a coach is demonized for requiring QB's to take real hits. Blah!!!

You have a good point. Its the ole "Be careful what you wish for". We could do worse. We have done worse.

My take: Fisher is a good talent evaluator. Especially on defense. And he instills attitude. His teams play with a chip on their shoulders. But his philosophy might be outdated for today's NFL. I wouldn't mind him being a GM and bring in coach who can put it all together.

But what is it that is missing specifically? Not innovative enough on O? Too aggressive on special teams? Not enough discipline or at least able to teach the guys not to make stupid untimely mistakes? (the latter having nothing to do with the game passing anyone by)
At the end of the season or maybe next if another quality head coach is available for have some move will be in order if the team has not improved. I just don't see any direction that would make sense now or worth complaining about Fish. Other than that 500% thing..
