I don't see the Foles meltdown as an act of God.

Fisher selected Frank Cignetti to be Foles' OC and then had to fire him mid season. Fisher is not a HC who typically puts his QB in a position to succeed, that's just not one of his strengths...

Simple and correct. Which is why so many of fans are fed up with Fisher.

I'm fed up with losing and watching the playoffs without a horse in the race. Fisher is the boss so it's very possibly his fault. I will admit his offensive approach to date has been little more than offensive, but it is hard to succeed with mediocrity under center and on the flanks. Oh and in protection too.

NFL free agency 2016: James Laurinaitis in no hurry to find new team

By Ed Valentine  @Valentine_Ed on Feb 22, 2016, 2:01p 3

We know from previous discussions that many New York Giants fans wish the team would just hurry up and sign free-agent middle linebacker James Laurinaitis. During an appearance Monday on Sirius XM NFL Radio, though, Laurinaitis said he isn't in a hurry to find a new team.

Laurinaitis, a 29-year-old seven-year veteran, said that he, his family, and agent Tom Condon would "sit back and take our time and really pick a squad that we feel like can make a run at the trophy."

Laurinaitis said Condon told him that "a bunch of teams had been calling" and that they would know much more about the market for his services after the NFL Scouting Combine.

In terms of what he might be looking for in a new team, the Giants check off a number of the boxes Laurinaitis mentioned during his talk with Bruce Murray and Rich Gannon. They need a middle linebacker. They have a top-shelf quarterback in Eli Manning. They also have a defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo, that Laurinaitis is familiar with. Spagnuolo, then the head coach of the St. Louis Rams, drafted Laurinaitis in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.

Only in hindsight is that true. When Seattle brought them in to the fold, they were commodities (Including Matt Flynn). Unlike the gaggle of backups the Rams have had who were picked off of the scrap heap.
In any event, debating the merits of those players only avoids the point I was making. Even prior to Fisher the Rams have done a terrible job with the QB position as far as providing any competition for the job.
One thing many of all the top QB have in common is the veteran presence on the team when they started.
Sam never had competition for the job, never had to look over his shoulder. And by the team's own admission they had no competition for the spot last year.
I would have been fine with going another direction this off season, better coaches have been fired for less.
But he's still our guy and I'll support him this year, nut under no circumstances will 7-9 cut it

Come on, Jackson, Whitehurst and Flynn had all failed in previous stops.

All three released are better players than Tim Barnes. Hope he has his bags packed.

One of the things I kept seeing last year was a LB or S coming in between the G and C before Tim could even get set after snapping the ball. Way too often guys were coming in and pushing him back into the pocket. I don't care how good your QB is, its tough to read your progressions and throw the ball with someone in your face. Even the worst QB in the NFL has enough talent to find an open receiver given a good pocket and 5 seconds. Some blame the OC, but he had to call plays that got the ball out quick, thus, not many plays downfield.

Rams need to upgrade center. Draft one or sign Mack. (Wiesnewski is not much of an upgrade over Barnes IMHO).

bubba, the 3 released were more about their cap hit. If Barnes will stick around for comparable pay, the depth he add's on the cheap might be worth it.

CONTRACT:1 yr(s) / $710,017 ---- AVERAGE SALARY$710,017----- GUARANTEED:$50,017 ---- FREE AGENT:2016 / UFA

Mack could be a luxury we can't afford but hope we can.

I know Hack, but I'm so sick of the Rams OL sucking year after year after the GSOT. they brought in Jason Brown, Bell, Dahl Joseph, just a turnstile of FA's that didn't work out. After last years draft and the last for games the OL is starting to look like its coming around. Just another couple of pieces. If they keep Barnes, I hope he spent a lot of time in the weight room and with the strength and conditioning coaches.
