Navy then Army I was a spook in the Navy and a 11B, 13M, and a 25S or Infantry then Self propelled Rocket Artillery finally rounding out as a Sat Com operator before I got out.

Yup. The Comanche PM office was there also in the 80's. It was called LHX back then and I gave a few briefings there, it was my first trip to STL. And the first and only time I went to the top of the arch.

I did a lot of research on the AH-64, during the 80's, that aircraft was a maintenance nightmare.

That's right, I recall the LHX office. It was very small back then.

And yes, the AH-64 was a maintenance nightmare. I spend an entire summer, the summer of the LA Olympics, as Ft Huachuca, AZ testing all of the ground support maintenance systems designed to keep that bird flying. The testing & maintenance systems themselves were advanced electronics at the time, and a maintenance nightmare in their own right :)

I am a member of a history web site and we have Americans, British, Anzacs, Canucks and a few other nationalities there. So while we always argue over who has the best Army or special ops we all agree American bar none is the air power and air superiority of the world. It is really amazing what we have been doing since WW2 with aircraft.

America and America. Having working with other nations special operations, they're all very good, especially SAS, afterall that's who we modeled many of our special operations off of.

My experience though, American special operations are always less hesitant in combat, more lethal. The techniques are largely the same, and the equipment is as well, the biggest difference is that American forces were quicker to move forward and quicker to shoot on almost levels, which to me gives us an edge. We had the discipline to hold fire when needed and the balls to overwhelm the enemy with violence when necessary. Lethal combination.

Hooah bro, how long did ya serve? I like your break down bro and your take. I always at the end of the day have to give us the nod as to me the tech advantage is a big one and one that is noticeable so. Why many forces world wide buy our tech so they can include it in their kits and arsenal. Us in the west we are so civilized though. I am sure ya have had opportunities to watch other forces train as well. From my experience of forces I have seen train directly and some on film. The Russians are just brutal. The number of training deaths they have is something that would never fly in our country or any other western country. The Turks are another one who just train brutal after I would watch them train I could always walk away and say yea I can so believe every historical account I have read of the fighting prowess of the Ottomans after I would see them train.

Anyway if I recall correct I believe I read before ya was a Ranger so hooah there bro as that is no easy ground to chew. For those who have never served I don't think they ever truly understand how encompassing service is and how uncle Sam takes over every aspect of your life. So it takes a lot of fortitude to live the lifestyle uncle Sam molds ya into. So all respect bro to the life ya had to live and in fact the one ya will have to live henceforth as I once told a girlfriend what is often so problematic for us vets mentally is ya can never unlearn what ya have learned and ya can never unsee what ya have seen.

I served 8 years, loved it, but it was time to move on and do other things. If I had stayed in I would have needed to do 20 years to really make it worth it, but I wanted to try other things. I debated going to selection, but I opted not to... Working with JSOC and dipping my toes in the tier one life was very cool, and I really wanted to do it, but it's such a hard life, couldn't really have a family if I had made it. It was a lot of fun, loved the guys I worked with, and even guys I didn't serve it, having that military connection is always a cool thing.

Has that article been posted on ROD with the obligatory verbal dick sucking and encouragement for everyone to read such a well thoughtout article yet?

I'll add a note that I don't dislike ROD or anything, I love ROD, I just disagree with the relocation policy or how information is presented. It comes of as picking a side, and I think that is a big shame.
