How do you grade the new uniform?

"A": Love the new threads! They nailed the classic/modern hybrid concept!

In an age when the needle rarely moves north of 50-50 on any issue, Twitter has spoken loudly and clearly on two questions regarding new uniforms.

Twitter loves the Chargers’ new look, and Twitter does not like the Rams’ new look.

A poll posted last month in the aftermath of the Chargers’ uniform reveal generated 8,765 votes and an overwhelming 86-percent “yes” and 14-percent “no” in response to the question of whether the voters like the new duds. The same poll posted yesterday regarding the Rams’ new look attracted 29,279 votes, with 74.9 percent saying “no.”

Does it matter? As to wins and losses, not really. That said, if the players wearing the Rams’ uniforms agree that the look is less than ideal (former Rams running back Eric Dickerson believes the uniforms look “soft,” it can affect their performance — Simms has pointed that out time and again on PFT Live. More immediately, Angelenos with limited discretionary income may be more likely to lean toward the Chargers than the Rams when picking jerseys or hats or helmets or whatever.

With no other revenue coming in right now, the Rams may end up making not nearly as much as they’d hoped from all the money they spent to redesign uniforms that, frankly, looked fine as they were.

Massive upgrade from those.
I agree...sort of. I mean, the return to LA uniforms were one of the worst uniforms ever. So bad that the league had to make an exception to their rules so the Rams could just wear their throwbacks all the time.

The new ones are "better" than that but that is faint praise. At best, they are love 'em or hate 'em. Between the two polls of 30,000 or so votes, it's looking like it's leaning more toward the later.

Overall, I think it's a failure by DeMoff. Just as I knew the mismatched crap would be gone, I'm confident this lame attempt at cutting edge will disappear too.

Then came '74. Oof.
Wasn't until '79 that they started to come back to life.. had some decent permutations.. until embracing some of the original elements in 2005.. which was awesome! A modern, updated vision of the original.. bringing in many of the elements, but in new, vibrant way. I've pretty much loved how they've grown it since then.

I get the point of the object lesson as regards the Rams uniforms. And I agree with you.

But I will pick at a nit with regard to the Mustang. The 1999-2004 Mustang is much better than the 2005-09 version. I don't know what they were thinking with the '05 redesign. All the critics, reviewers, and customers that I read back then complained about that design, from boring exterior to interior with all the cheap plastics and mundane looking dash. The 2010 redesign got the Mustang back on track, and it's been great ever since.

FWIW, I'm still driving my '04 Sonic Blue GT. Just rolled past 300,000 miles. Great car (though it's nearing the end). I don't mean to criticize anybody driving an '05, this is just my opinion.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled uniform discussion...

When did the 5.0 hit? It seems like the same generation styling as the '79 in which case I'd give it far more credit than just coming back.

If I had to make a comparison, I'd say the Rams were looking like the '74's right now. They have the pony car/fastback/Mach 1 past but now we're in a trendy, not much better than a Pinto phase that will hopefully lead to a retro-modern look that re-takes the industry by storm.

My '04 GT engine is a 4.6. The 5.0 came out in 2011.

I know you're comparing the just the look of the 2020 uniforms with the Pinto. I just have a hard time comparing anything post-Fisher Rams to a Pinto. We need to come up with a different type of analogy, because I keep mixing performance into the equation.

I think the analogy works since it's basically about styling.

But the 5.0's that I'm talking about were the one's in the '80's that really took over as "the" American muscle car for a good long while.

Every manufacturer usually comes up with something pretty good along the way. I'm team Mopar. I don't hate on the other brands though. If something is good, it's good. And bad/bad. But I would be missing out if I limited my choices to a particular company. Too much good stuff in the '60's and early '70's.

But, I consider being a Mopar guy much like being a Rams guy. It isn't the most popular choice but I think we love our stuff more than the others love theirs.

Agree, just talking smack!

I would take a built Challenger or Mustang any day. But first choice is Camaro and Corvette, especially if I'm buying.

Ranked it's Chevy, Mopar, Ford, for me. If we are talking 70's its Cuda, Camaro. LOVED the Barracuda.

i'm going to retract my earlier post.. because the more i look, the worse i feel...

those colors are fine.. but the numbers on the unis suck... and always will...

those are the most pussy-whipped numbers any team could ever take the field with...

good luck with selling dominance with those ...

the powers that be blew it..

go rams
