I wonder why Brian Billick's name never gets brought up as a potential candidate? What has he done to be black balled from coaching? I'm not necessarily suggesting him, just wondering since he is a SB winning coach.

He was a decent coach, but he's an old (he'll be 63 soon) retread that hasn't coached in almost ten years. Teams/owners/GM's would rather take a chance with a young coordinator with new/fresh ideas.

I remember hearing a lot of talk about his arrogance and how players themselves were relieved when he finally got canned in Baltimore. Usually players say the "right things" after a coach leaves; apparently the Ravens guys did not.

When I went to look for a story on in it from the old days (that I did not find) I came across a few articles talking about Jim Fassel in this light. Apparently he never got another HC job because his former employers had nothing but bad things to say about him.

Some guys burn bridges, and the NFL is too small a fraternity. Burn one and you burn 'em all, it would appear.

Shame, I like Billick. I liked him for the Rams back in 2009 and 2012. I don't like him for the Rams this year, though, for the same reason I don't (much) like Gruden. That's a long time to be out to the game and the learning curve could be a long, or useless, one.

Broncos Head Coach Rumors

According to Mike Garafolo, Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan “has his eyes on” the Broncos’ head-coaching job: “The word around the league right now the word with people involved in coaching searches and gathering all of this information is that that’s the job Shanahan has his eyes on — going to Denver where his father coached.“

I was reading about this on nfl.com yesterday and, although mostly conjecture, it makes the most sense. When the offseason began I thought the Rams job would be the most appealing to Shanahan, but when the Broncos job opened up it all but dashed my hopes. Denver is perfect for Kyle Shanahan, and Shanahan perfect for Denver. My only hope was that Kyle did not want to proceed in the shadow of Mike, but the article did seem to dispel that.

In my heart I'm moving on from my first candidate (Kyle) to my second favorite candidate (the Patriot rocket scientist).

Anything can still happen, though. The process is exhilarating to behold!

Shanny to Denver is almost obvious considering his papa. Sure wish Kubiak would have waited one more year to cut out.
Could just be early leverage, but my guess is we will likely have to overpay him to come here instead.

Broncos are associated with winning. Rams are associated with losing. This is the hard wall to climb over.

I remember hearing that Kyle Shanahan wanted to go somewhere with his father.

Would Denver be willing to offer a front office position to Mike? Perhaps that's something Rams could offer?

Also Elway may be a great exec but he also might be a bit of a control freak. Whoever comes to L.A. will practically have the run of the place compared to Denver...

As I recall, John and Mike were very close back in the day ... I can see that happening ...

Denver did fire Mike Shanahan, doesn't that leave a mark?
